Bridal shop suggestions

Marissa, on April 3, 2019 at 12:03 AM Posted in California Planning 0 22
Anyone know some shops around OC area in California? I'm seriously so naive when it comes to bridal shops. I know David's Bridal and that's pretty much it. Also, is it too early to look for dresses for a wedding October of next year? I feel like I should be planning other things, but I just get so anxious when thinking about dresses.

If you are in La try Cocomelody. Check out their website first to see if you like.

I got my dress at Marry me Bridal in Orange. They're so helpful and great prices. I'm getting alterations next week Smiley smile
Theres also Ferendales on Tustin. And Mon amie Bridal in Costa Mesa. I went to all these places and they were all good. But Marey me Bridal is amazing! Good luck!

Yelp is the way and the life. Lol.
I found my bridal shop on yelp and the photos and stuff other people posted gave me an idea of the style of shop it was, thank goodness too because some shops in the Venice area are very boho chic and not my style at all. I suggest going to a designer you like website and seeing who sells their gown on their distributor list.

My budget was $2k. But my dress ended up being $1600. And it's such a nice dress. My friend also bought her dress there for $800!

    Shoot. I meant Marissa’s budget. 😁

Ferndales has some less expensive dresses from what I remember, but Mon Amie has a huge shop & selection. I don’t remember Mary Me Bridal’s selection/prices.

Mariposa Boutique is Anaheim is a good shop. I know four ladies including me say yes to the dress there. And the prices are reasonable! Like under $4K I think they told me? Mon Amie is also a good place. Expensive dresses though but it was a fun experience. Good luck! You’ll love it! Smiley smile

It's never too early to start looking. Get an idea of what you really love in a dress and you won't feel rushed when it's time to order. It also gives you a chance to meet the people running the different stores. Who you work with truly makes a difference.

We loved Pebbles Bridal on Orangethorpe in Placentia (right near the 57 & 91 intersection). You don't need an appointment (except for alterations), the staff is really nice/helpful/no pressure, and we thought they had a great selection. Daughter found her gorgeous Rebecca Ingram gown there (about $1200 with tax). Based on our experience, I'd highly recommend going during the week, if at all possible. When we did that we were usually the only people there. We went on a Saturday to pick up daughter's dress and it was kind of a zoo. Overall, daughter had a great experience there.

There's also a Casablanca flagship store in Newport Coast. We were a little worried about going there; afraid they might be snooty.... Smiley winking NOT at all the case! The young woman who helped us was awesome and the gowns are gorgeous. Daughter didn't find exactly what she was looking for, but all their dresses are customizable, so they did a proposal combining a skirt from a dress she loved with the bodice of another. She ended up finding her PERFECT dress at Pebbles, but we were very impressed with Casablanca.

Daughter's "all-in" budget for her apparel was $2000. With about $400 worth of alterations, she came in under budget (but, I made her veil and her 1st choice was to wear Converse, so those were both inexpensive). Also, daughter found & ordered her dress in August 2017 for her January 2019 wedding. The dress arrived in January 2018 -- so, yes, a full year ahead -- and she started alterations in October (because of the holidays). Thankfully, she NEVER had a second of dress regret, but she also had a really strong vision of what she wanted and never wavered on that. Good luck! Dress shopping was one of our favorite parts of the entire process. Smiley heart

Mariposa Bridal in Anaheim. They have an amazing selection of the most beautiful dresses.
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s to early to try on dresses but maybe not purchase one just yet, sometimes our vision or tastes changes. I know that my did a couple of times 😂

Blush Bridal in Tustin! That’s where I got my dress. They have quite a few options around $1,500. I went to Mariposa in Anaheim, Panache Bridal in Costa Mesa, then Blush Bridal (all in one day - make appointments ahead of time!) All had beautiful dresses, but I ultimately picked the one at Blush. You get a free glass of champagne there, or you can bring your own bottle and your posse can drink while you try dresses on!

That budget should work at all three shops. FYI, there are quite a few more options at the $2,100-$2,400 range if you have any wiggle room.

Mon Amie has been around for decades. I went shopping for my first wedding there in 1998!

I'm actually thinking of getting mine from Blush Bridal as well! How would you rate your overall experience at the boutique? It's about a 4-5 hour commute from where I live, so I'm trying to get as much info about it as I can.
