Bridal shoes

Honey, on July 14, 2021 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I finally found my dress!!! Super excited!!

I have a picture of the perfect shoes in my mind but can’t seem to find something that even resembles the shoes. How were you able to pick your shoes… did you match the style of shoe with the dress? Did you just get whatever shoe you liked?
Tips and websites to help me would be greatly appreciated.

I didn’t particularly try to match my shoes to my dress, I just knew I wanted some thing with a lower block heel, so that it was more comfortable. These were from ASOS, I found them in store but had to order my size. I also really liked the gold on the inside of the heel, since I’m wearing all gold jewelry. I also had looked online at Nordstrom, Lulu‘s, and David’s bridal!

I wanted light blue shoes with a low/no heel since it's an outdoor ceremony. I searched through many department stores and shoe stores but couldn't find the right one -- everything was too expensive or had poor reviews. Finally I went on Etsy and found some that were perfect, within budget and custom made!

I forgot to link the store I used. They have many styles of white block heels:

I bought my shoes 1st, about a month ago. I wanted to have them before I went dress shopping so I'd be able to match the two, or at least see what the dress looks like with my shoes. It's easier to bring the shoes to the bridal shop to try with the dress than to bring the dress to a store to try with shoes. Bridal shoes 2

I also knew from the get-go what shoes I wanted to wear - when I first met my fiancé I was wearing a pair of Louboutins (we were at a fancy charity ball), and so I thought it would be a romantic thing to do to wear some on our wedding day (plus an excuse to buy another pair!) So like Nisha, I bought mine before the dress - I chose this neutral shade as I figured I'd be able to wear them again, and also, they match the peachy/pink palette we decided to go with for our wedding.

I think, to be honest, that if I were to have chosen for reasons other than sentiment, I would pick something for environment and comfort, since most people are not going to see them. For eg, we are getting married on grass at a vineyard and as you can see, the heels are SUPER thin and I do have heel protectors, but we had to find and buy something for us to stand on during the ceremony so I didn't just sink into the ground. Then, after that, we're supposed to be getting photos in the vines. The shoes, whilst beautiful, are a stupid choice for those activities, considering that no one is even going to see them, lol. So I have a second pair to change into after the ceremony!

I actually totally adore these Something Bleu kitten heels, although they wouldn't have been any good for my wedding either, a flat or a block or a wedge would have been better. But SO, SO CUTE! If they'd had a pink and gold pair I would have bought them anyway!

Anyway. My rambling point is, I think you either need to pick something that has some kind of emotional tie that perhaps you couldn't justify buying otherwise, OR go for something that will be practical for your venue, and comfortable all day, because dresses are supposed to be tailored to the height of your shoes and switching between two will mean it drags on the floor a lot more in the lower pair.

I actually considered wearing my nude Louboutins too. I bought them last September and haven't worn them yet, but he insisted that I get new shoes specifically for the wedding. The Jimmy Choo's are more comfortable on my fat feet anyway. 🤣

No one will see your shoes. Go for comfort and functionality. I’m going to wear blue block heels for my something blue. Bridal shoes 4

LOL! that's cute he insisted - I'd take it - any excuse to buy shoes is a good one in my book!

I'm lucky my feet are super narrow, so Louboutins are actually quite comfortable width-wise for me - I generally find they don't pinch, I just get very sore arches.

Yours do look more comfortable than mine, no getting around it, lol.

I bought my shoes before the dress. I wasn’t intentionally shopping for wedding shoes, but saw them and fell in love. Navy was one of our colors and they doubled as my “something blue” Bridal shoes 5

I went to the regular shoe store and found wedge heels that were comfortable and cute (bonus, I still wear them) - but I got married outside (walking on grass) and I have a janky toe, so I had actually been looking for flats, and ended up with wedges.

Can you describe the shoes you are picturing in your head? It seems like folks on these forums have great knowledge on things like this, maybe someone can point your towards a website or brand. It seems like Badgley Mischka is a popular brand, and I'd also check out the BHLDN website.

I had my eye on these Kate Spade heels for a really long time. They were on my Pinterest board for my bridal inspo. I searched everywhere for them but nowhere had my size, until I found them on Ebay and got them for a great price and they arrived looking brand new. I've included a photo of them below. For the reception, I'll be changing into block heels to be more comfortable. I'm 4'11", so I knew I wanted a high heel, and to be a more classic and timeless look.

Is there a certain style you're looking for? Do you value comfort or style more? What's your budget? All of these are important questions when looking for shoes. I'd suggest looking at DSW, Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Ebay, Amazon, even Etsy has shops that make wedding shoes! BHLDN also has beautiful shoes.
