Bridal scam??

Msmith, on March 11, 2020 at 5:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi all!

I went to a bridal show a few months ago and registered my name and phone number. I got a call today from a company called NHI International saying I won 2 wedding bands, a 3/day 2/night trip to the Caribbean, and champagne flutes. All I have to do is go to a "bridal expo" at the Holiday Inn in my city.

Has anyone every encountered anything like this? I searched them online and they appear to be a real company, but their website is odd. Does anyone know if this is a scam?

Thanks!

Yes! Not from that company but my bridesmaid won a prize at an expo we went to and it was a paid vacation supposedly but all we had to do was come to some presentation. Now the thing with this is it could be “legit” except it’s like a sales presentation or maybe the prize isn’t as all it’s cracked up to be like maybe you gotta pay additional fees, etc.

From the same expo I “won” a brush set but couldn’t even claim it until I let them come to my house to do a sales presentation and it had to be a party. So we didn’t claim any of these because they’re kind of scam-y

I attended one of these meetings after being told I won two rings, champagne flutes, and a 3 day/2night stay at an all inclusive resort after attending a wedding fair. It is LEGIT. Of course they have a catch though. They made me sit through a 3 hour cookware seminar before giving me the prize. When you go to purchase the rings online you do have to pay $50 shipping but the rings are worth over $400 so its definitely a good deal. The champagne flutes you have to pay shipping on $24.95, and the trip you have to place a $100 deposit but it is refundable once you arrive at the hotel. None of it is a scam but everything does have a catch to it.

Exactly. My dumb butt fiance decided on the pots and pans which are expensive lol. However, I got the trips but some of the trips have regulations like no holidays or certain days. We have not ordered the bands yet but we got all the stuff but it is not fully free.

Like the others said, they’re real but there’s of course a catch. We got the same and sat through a presentation about pots and pans that was roughly an hour long. We’re going to use the trip and just add a few nights onto it and make a full vacation out of it. We just thought “why not?” 😊
