Bridal party

Elise, on October 22, 2018 at 10:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21
Anyone else have a small bridal party? I have a maid of honor and one bridesmaid who is my future husbands daughter. I feel pretty low about it but then again I don’t want anyone who isn’t fully there for me.

We aren’t having one at all. I think other people will find it strange but no shame here! Lol

My sister is my matron of honor & my brother in law(sisters husband) is my FH bestman. Our three dogs are going to the "flower girl" & "ring bearer". That's our bridal party Smiley smile

We had 0 and it was perfect! We had a small wedding & didn’t want any extra cost or stress for anyone. Hubby & I walked down the aisle together; it was so sweet! 💕 one MOH & BM sounds great.

Only my 9yr old daughter will be standing with me. No one else on either side and we wanted it that way. No drama. I still have my good friend and my 19 yr old daughter that are helping me with things on wedding day.

I have a small wedding party as well! I never had very many girl friends so I have my soon to be sister-in-law as my MOH, my little brother as my ‘brosmaid’, and my cousin as a bridesmaid. I wanted to keep it small but ended up adding my brother to my side since my FH has a few friends as well as his brother that he wanted on his side and I had to make it even! Smaller bridal parties are a lot less stress too!

Ours is small. I have my brother as man of honor and my best friend as a bridesman. My FH has his twin brothers as co bestmen and that's it for us. I love having a small bridal party! I also love that ours is all men! Renting tuxes is so much easier and less stressful than picking bridesmaid dresses.

99% we aren't going to have a bridal party at all. And if we do, it will be max two people: one for my SO, and one for me. And, like another poster here, it would probably be my brother as "man of honor", which means the entire bridal party will be male. Which means they all get tuxes/suits. Done.

Like, I can tell you right now that I would have zero patience with picking out bridesmaids dresses. Zero.

There is nothing wrong with having no bridal party, or small bridal party, or a large bridal party. I've been to weddings with all 3, and all have been awesome.

Nothing wrong with a small BP! I originally only wanted my sister in the wedding as my MOH, but was guilted into having additional people (3 total) by my MIL. I felt awful for a long time about it, because I used to have a lot of friends, but I’ve drifted apart from most of the women I once had in my life. I came to accept it, and in the end it was the right decision for me to have who I did in the wedding because they were all amazing.
Dont feel bad, as long as the people you have chosen are who you can’t envision standing up without on your day!

FW and I each have one. A MOH. She has her sister and I have my BFF. She was a little torn about only having one person but as we get further along with the planning, she's definitely warmed up to having just one.

We are having a very small wedding (around 20 people) and also will not have a bridal party. Did you have anyone that got hair and makeup done with you? I'm not sure why but I have recently started to stress over this.

We didn't have a bridal party! Time was tight for planning (7 months) so it seemed easier. Our friends loved just attending as guests and not having to buy dresses, suits, etc. I wouldn't feel bad about your small party at all. I have zero regrets about mine!

I too did not have a bridal party! My best friend and my niece (10 yo) got their hair done with me and hung out while I got my makeup done. My Mom didn't want her hair / make-up done but that could be an option for you too!

Thank you! That makes me feel better. I was thinking about having my sister, niece and mom (if she chooses) to get ready with me. I'm assuming a HMUA would not want to come to your location if there is only a few people? Which is fine, I'm just trying to figure this out.

Yes, correct.... given our small number of appointments, we went to a salon vs. having someone come to us! I really didn't look for someone to come to me so I guess I don't know for certain, I just assumed it wouldn't work out and I love my salon so I was totally fine going there.

Yes! My mom & sister got ready with me and had their make-up done. So I had some fun "girl time." Do you have anyone you'd like to be there with you?

We bought a small photo package so I skipped a lot of getting ready pics but my sister pretended to button my dress and then we had several pics taken together before my hubby & I did first look. A few was all we needed.

I’m having 3 bridesmaids. I’m only doing who I know will truly be there for me. Don’t do have random people by your side is my opinion
