Bridal Party Robes?

Kacey, on May 4, 2016 at 10:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Has anyone out there received a floral or silk robe as part of your gift for being a bridesmaid? If so, did you ever use it again? Did you think it was a waste of money?

The "getting ready in robes with champagne" look seems to be a popular wedding shot. I'd be happy to get them for my girls in addition to an actual bridesmaid gift, but not sure if it's worth the money if they are only going to be used once. Thanks!

My SIL got us floral robes, we all liked them. However, since they were ordered from a random site, the sizes were all different and some didn't fit people well. They were really pretty, though, and I do use mine sometimes when I am getting ready in the morning or doing my hair.

Some of my personal favorite photos were of us in the robes, because the colors and patterns were so pretty. So, if they are from a reliable vendor and you have the $ for it, I don't think you will regret them.

    ETA: I can't spell.

My friend got us flower robes that went silk. They were so fun with cute pics. Don't get them embroidered with bridesmaid. Do their name or nothing at all. I have a cozier robe at home so I don't use the one she gave me. You can do oversize button down or pajama set.

I received one from my SIL at her wedding and have one left from my wedding. I alternate between wearing them and where one of them almost every morning when getting ready.

I'd say go for it, but leave anything that mentions your wedding off of it (like the date or your initials or something). I'm planning on getting a white robe for myself that says "Bride" and getting my girls rose/blush colored ones that are plain.

Awesome, thanks all! Has anyone used Plum Pretty Sugar for robes? Or have any other brands/companies they recommend? What is a good price point to look at without being cheap?

I'm deciding between robes or the big boyfriend shirts for my girls, but I agree, not planning to personalize them with BRIDESMAID. I also plan to include more as their actual gift, since the getting ready attire is more for a photo op... I've looked at Plum Pretty Sugar, but they seem expensive. I've seen some nice ones at Target, and on Etsy as well.

@Angela I am doing the button downs for my girls, I found them on etsy and the service has been great (the seller is very sweet and helpful). The shop is AmyAnneApparel . I highly recommend! I got a white shirt for me and the FG, and then two different pinks for the BMs, all with just our first initial sewn over the pocket. I love them and can't wait to give everyone them!

IMO they're not worth the money if just purchasing for that one "getting ready" photo.

My girls and I had photographs taken with champagne before we left for the ceremony and after we were ready in our dresses and everything Smiley winking

Thanks @Holly! I've been looking at different Etsy shops, so I will take a look at that one. I am leaning towards the shirts because I think my set of BMs will be more comfortable hanging out in those versus the robes. We're a girly bunch, but not SO girly if you know what I mean. Thanks for the reco!

Got a pink silk robe when I was a bridesmaid a couple years ago...says "bridesmaid" on the back...only wore it that day to get ready. Really cute though.

I gave my bridal party robes, including my mom and MIL. No one wears them, but I still wear mine everyday, I loved it. I put their first initial on the rob, and on the moms, i put "mom". My SIL did PJs for her wedding last weekend, and I will 100% wear them again! She got PJ bottoms from walmart, and got a hanes cotton t-shirt to match. she put iron on initials on the pocket of the t-shirt. I did the robes because I truly thought they'd get use out of them. My SIL's is sitting in her closet at her parent's house - she moved out in January, so it does hurt my feelings a little.

I got mine from an etsy shop and I love them! That was one of the things I had to have, yes it's kind of a waste of money but a lot of things I'm getting could be considered a waste. I love the look of everyone in robes and the shop I ordered from I was able to order based on the heights of girls which was really important for me. If you have the money I say do it!

@Michelle S I used silkandmore. They have a ton of different options! The ones I ordered weren't silk but that made them cheaper and they are high quality. I got myself a silk one

I got mine for less than $6 each from Aliexpress (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Silk-Satin-Wedding-Bride-Bridesmaid-Robe-Floral-Bathrobe-Short-Kimono-Robe-Night-Robe-Bath-Robe-Fashion/32605269476.html?spm=2114.40010308.4.2.cRER5p).

I got them large ones, since I wasn't sure about sizing, and you can always tie robes. The quality is fine, it's not silk, but for the price I won't mind if they don't wear it again.

I bought Morgan Taylor silk kimono robes at Macy's for about $30. I bought this brand primarily because they carry plus sizes and my MOH is a 3X.

I went the button-down route. All of us (including me) are wearing blue collared Oxford shirts from Old Navy. I'm not doing any names though so hopefully they can wear them again.

Haven't received one but got them for myself and my bms and they loved it, tell me they use them all the time, I use my own daily.

Ours were cotton and floral, no names or stuff like that. I let them choose the color and their sizes and they worked great. I got mine through Etsy seller ComfyClothing

I'm not buying my girls ones, BUT I have a robe from plum pretty sugar (well PPS for BHLDN) and I LOVE it so much. A little pricey, but totally worth it! I'll probably wear it on the day of, because I always do my makeup in it, but I'm not sure yet.
