Bridal Party Gifts - Getting Ready

TheKDenny, on February 24, 2016 at 10:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I really like the look of getting ready photos when the bridal party is matching. I'm not liking the robes covered in flowers because they do not match my wedding. I have found three options I really like, but I don't want to spend the money on something my girls will never wear again, and one of them is on the expensive side. I getting married at the beach in July and I'm going to have 4 bridesmaids.

My options are:

-button up shirt with monogram in a beachy font (my MOH doesn't like monograms) ($45ish each) - https://www.etsy.com/listing/195938905/beach-wedding-shirt-for-the-bride

-a beach cover up ($45ish each) and I'd have to get matching tanks to go with them - https://www.etsy.com/listing/265439844/mandala-design-kimono-ombre-kimono

-an eco friendly robe in a beachy fabric ($109 each if I buy 5) - http://www.doielounge.com/product/aurelia/

I'm leaning towards the robes or the beach cover up. I think the robes are better, but super expensive. Help please!

I'm not sure but I think you will hear here that this sort of thing is not a gift but more of a prop for a photo op.

I don't know... I was going to do something like this but gave up the idea. My sister told me she was in a wedding where the bride purchased expensive tops like this to get ready in and half the girls didn't even put them on. Then they had an expensive "bridesmaid" top that they never wore, and will still never wear. My own wedding day was a bit hectic with everyone getting ready, so I was glad I didn't get them those tops. I agree that the pics are super cute - but are they $250 to $550 worth of cute to you? My girls and I took pics having fun with our own little champagne toast in the hotel suite after we were done up and ready to leave for the ceremony. I love those pics!

That's just my two cents. They may very well just throw those $109 robes on for 5 minutes to take some pictures.

Others may have other experiences/opinions. I didn't have the total relaxed atmosphere of getting ready that those kind of photos typically convey! lol

I also second what Tina said. When I was thinking of doing something like that, I still had their seperate BP gift. No-one wants the monogrammed shirt, really. Its a photo prop. And an expensive one at that.

It is up to how much you can spend. I did Robes and loved them but they where not my only gift because I wanted to make sure to get them something that had nothing to do with the wedding.

These are not a gift for your bridesmaids, they are a gift for you, for your photos. It's up to you how much you feel photo props are worth spending on.

I was going to do robes for my girls, plus their individual gifts, but then I was like 30-40 dollars for something to wear for one day, when we could all just wear a button down shirt instead not so much. I love my girls, but I just don't see the need for it for one day.

Thank you for the input. None of my BMs like the same style dresses, so I'm having them pick a dress of their choosing in a specific color (from Weddington Way, or something like that). They'll be more comfortable that way I think. That is partially why I want something matching - since that will be the only time. Whatever I do, we have to be able to go outside. The salon is in the building next to our rooms.

Budget wise - i am planning on getting them other gifts. I am wanting to pick out gift that match the person rather than getting them the same thing. I also would rather spend a little extra if that means it's going to be enjoyed after the wedding.

I'm in the minority here but I actually like getting those monogrammed/bridesmaid shirts when I'm in a BP. I think they are so fun and I actually do wear them again to lounge around the house, clean, workout, etc.

@FutureMrs.C - I considered getting the shirt just for me. I love it and I could see myself wearing it around my house too.

    This isn't a gift.

Also if the bridesmaid isn't married or engaged I wouldn't do a full monogram. Just their first initial. I have so many monogrammed things that I won't wear again because they don't have my new monogram. The shirts I bought for getting ready have their fist initial and a laurel wreath around the letter
