Bridal Party Dance

Robin , on February 7, 2017 at 4:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

Just wondering if it is still trendy to do a bridal party dance. This is my 2nd marriage and when i first got married 20 years ago it was common to have one. But I'm hearing now it is not a thing any more. Is this true?

Up to your bridal party. None of the weddings I've been to had one. And your bridal party should never be "required" to learn a dance.

However, my FH did a surprise one for his best friends weddig (he was best man and surprised the couple ) and the whole bridal party loved doing it.

So know your group, know your guests, but IMO it's just one extra thing to plan and who has the time

Thank you both. I've been fretting over what song i should have them dance to. And you are right, as a guest i didn't really care about the bridal party dance and as a BM I hated dancing a slow dance with some guy I just met. So no wedding party dance here....thank you both again, once less thing to do. Now on with the other 1000 things to do.

I've been a BM 10 times (not exaggerating) and this was always the worst part of the day. It was awkward and very uncomfortable, I'd have given anything to not be a part of it no matter my love for my married friend.

I've been to weddings that had it. TBH, it comes across way cuter in the pictures than it did to me in real life. In real life, if just kind-of annoyed me.

    No.

The one and only time I have seen this done was at my BFF's wedding 13 years ago.

So...are we talking about where each 'couple' in the wedding party have to dance together...the whole wedding party for one song or are we talking about where you bridesmaid or groomsmen make up their own dance thing?!?

FH seems to think the wedding party has to dance together & I'm thinking that's going to be pretty awkward for some...

We are having a bridal party dance however it's to an uptempo song. My father and I are doing a father/daughter dance were we have a little hip hop style routine at the end the Bridal Party will join us to kick the party off!

This was done at my sister's wedding. I'm 12 years younger than her and I was still a teenager (17) while the rest of the wedding party was in their late 20s-early 30s. Most. Awkward. Thing. I. Had. To. Do. All. Year. was slow dance with a 30something stranger while a bunch of guests watched us. Please let this die out!!

My sisters fave movie is dirty dancing... her and her husband did the lift and partner dance then we all joined in like at the end of the movie. It was so freaking fun and all everyone talked about. I say for things like that if you want to, do it! Doesn't matter if it's trendy or not!

Ugh. Only 1 wedding where I was a bridesmaid we had to do a dance and it was awkward. My brother was in his best friends wedding in September and they had to do a bridal party dance and again awkward. My brothers best friends older sister was a bridesmaid in that wedding and is a bridesmaid in mine, she literally asked me, "Are you going to have us do a bridal party dance?" And I was like hell no. She was like Thank God! I wouldn't do it. It's awkward as hell to do this. This needs to be long gone.

Reading these comments...I think we are still talking 2 different things. OP...can you clarify if you are talking about strictly a bridal party dance (MOH/BMs only) or a wedding party dance?
