Bridal party colors to match my dress?

Rebecca, on February 28, 2023 at 6:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

This photo shows the blue fabric and tulle layer that will become my wedding dress. It will be a very flowy, beachy sleevelss v-neck, open back gown using exactly the fabric in the picture. But -- what is the right shade of blue for my bridesmaid and groomsman? Or, is there another color other than blue that would work for the other members of my bridal party? It will be a small group - one bridesmaid, one groomsman, one flower girl, one ring bearer. We will be wed on a beach in Mexico this Fall. The only thing fixed at this point is the color and style of my wedding dress. I am trying to find the right colors for the rest of my bridal party. Any recommendations?

Does your wedding color/theme palette have a secondary or third color? If so, I’d recommend having them in that 2nd or 3rd color so they don’t look like they’re matching you guys.

Love the fabric! If you go with a blue, I would go pretty light so it's not too close to yours, especially since you're on the beach. If you want to go with a contrasting color, I think peach or pink would be lovely. You could even go neutral with a dove gray for both the bridesmaids and the guys.

I recommend gray. Your dress color looks very similar to my bridesmaids dress colors and we paired it with gray suits for the guys.

If you don't want everyone, guys and girls, in gray, maybe your bridesmaid could be in peach or a dark red as contrast?

My color theme is not completely finalized, aside from knowing that I am going with a blue beach palette. Until recently, my dress was a much lighter sky blue, and my bridesmaid dress was going to be darker than my dress, in this aegean blue. I am much happier with my new dress color, but the aegean blue is now too similar to my own dress color. The color for the other party members must be lighter now. Possibly blue/grey/silver ?

I fear the grey may be too bland, but possiby a lighter shade of silver blue, combined? The wedding is on a beach and there will be no suits. The gentlemen will be wearing guayabera shirts. Maybe a lighter shade of blue silver, where the bridesmaid and flower girl dresses have a shine, or sheen to the fabric? Alongside my dress, would that be too much blue?

Do you think a light dusty blue would be light enough?

How about instead of everyone in all ombre shades of blue, you coordinate with your groom in blue and blue-detailed guayabera, and the bridesmaids coordinate with the groomsmen in grey or even white linen. For children, they can wear a neutral color with a sash or bow in any shade of blue. You can tie everyone together with blue florals. In this way, the wedding couple stands out, but complemented by others with contrast.

What if you did your bridesmaid in gray and then if you have some extra fabric from your dress you could have it made into a sash for the bridesmaid dress?

Everyone is not in ombre shades of blue. Only my dress will be like that. I have been looking at different shades of grey, but I am just worried it will be too dull. Not enough color.

If everyone are in various shades of blue, then the whole wedding party look is ombre or monochrome. Add the ocean color and you have another blue. Sounds like you really want this. But like the others offered, I do think contrasting colors will make you and your partner stand out as centers of the event. You can add more color with flowers and bouts.

I completely agree regarding the contrast. I am just having a hard time figuring out which color(s) that should be.
