Mary Kay is a pyramid scheme / MLM. They sell drugstore quality products at marked prices. The goal of the pampering is to get you to sign up as a consultant, host a party or buy products.

If you’re into Podcasts, listen to The Dream season 1 or watch John Oliver’s segment on MLMs online.

Mary Kay is a real company. Alot of at home vendors use bridal shows as a way to advertise and network. Based on the description it sounds like a no strings attached thing. You aren't required to buy anything. Go for it.

Mary Kay is real and you'll get your prize, but they'll call and text you over and over and over

That’s the only thing that’s not making me want to do it. They have done this to me before but that was in 2018. The lady who do the representation thing called me almost everyday and if I didn’t answer she would just text me over and over. I was only supposed to go to see what it was about but eventually I got so annoyed I blocked the lady. I even asked her to stop and she just continued.

I had this happen with me but it was pure romance. They were at the bridal show I went to. All the vendors at any bridal show get all your information and then constantly call, email and text you. Don't do it, it might sound enticing and like there are no strings, but once you go they will try and pressure you to buy something. Rule of thumb nothing in life is 100% free.

Agree with the others- it’s a real company but their products aren’t the greatest.

I get a lot of these from companies who got my information from wedding shows that I attended last year. I'm pretty sure everyone who goes to the bridal show is a "winner," Lol. It's more or less legit (as in you'll get the prize or whatever), but like others have said, nothing in life is "free" so unless you want to be added to her customer list and constantly spammed/harassed, I'd forgo it.

That’s what I would like to know. I haven’t signed up for any bridal shows. When I got engaged we literally went into lock down a month later

You didn't enter. One of the stores you have purchased wedding stuff from gave your information to them (which is annoying). Basically they will give you a mini-facial and then try to sell you everything you used.

Exactly, my fiance and I won a honeymoon, rings, and glasses from this one company from the bridal show. We were so excited but after talking to the lady over the phone quickly realized it came with strings attached. We would have had to jump through hoops to get the prizes that would have ended up costing us in the end anyways.

I haven’t even gotten to buy anything for my wedding yet unfortunately. We had to move the date and change the WHOLE ceremony cause of COVID. Now we are just going to the court house

Did you visit a David's Bridal? They are the worst for selling info, which is one of the many reasons I didn't shop there. Maybe sign up online for any wedding related emails?

The only time I’ve been to David’s bridal is when I got my prom dress in 2017...

UGH. I went to one of these because my best friend won. We thought it was more of a spa day package. We were going to go out to lunch and have a day after. Nope. We show up, I had a full face of makeup on because I always do, they told me to take it off. I REALLY didn't want to because I just wasn't jazzed about taking the makeup I put on off to put stuff I might not want (and didn't know about) on. But I did it. And it was just a makeup demonstration basically and then she asked us if we wanted to buy anything. I did buy one thing and after the order she wouldn't stop calling, texting, emailing, Facebook messaging...ANY way she could find me she did and I had to block her from everything just to get her to leave me alone because she didn't understand no. However, my mom and aunt did a party with Mary Kay with a completely different consultant, and she was absolutely lovely, completely opposite of the other woman, and she actually did wedding makeup so she did my friend's makeup for her. Never harassed anyone to buy more. So it could go either way, but honestly, I'd pass on it, especially if you're the type who feels bad that you aren't buying anything and they spent their time on you.

Everyone "wins" this and it's not actually a prize. It's a sales demonstration at which you will put products on your own face (how is that pampering??) and then be hounded into purchasing until you block their email/phone number. Is Mary Kay a real company? Yes. Do their sales representatives engage in unethical sales pressure and manipulation tactics so they can make their monthly quotas? Also yes.

David's Bridal (and likely other companies) sell personal data to Mary Kay, which is how they got your contact info.
