How much do people spend on bridal makeup usually? Is $2000 pretty average?

It depends on the area you live in, but I would say that $2k for makeup for one person is well above average. My wedding day makeup was about $500 plus tip.

$2000 for one person seems way high to me! Definitely depends on the area, but a common range I've seen in my area for just makeup is anywhere from $75 to $600 depending on the makeup artist that you book.

Prices tend to vary a lot according to location and the artist’s credentials/how in-demand they are. Is $2000 strictly for the bride’s make up, or does that include your bridal party as well? If it is for bridal make up only, that seems incredibly high! My make up artist works on national high-profile tv and movie sets, and fashion shows, and she isn’t charging even half that for my makeup.

Wow $2000 seems pretty high but what does that price include. Is the make up artist staying the whole day to do touch-ups or is it for multiple people?

It’s just the bridal makeup I believe. I jsut saw it on a makeup artists page so it seemed a bit too much for me personally. Wanted to get y’all’s opinions. Thanks.

Mine was quoted at $100 for hair and $100 for makeup. $2000 is insane unless that’s for 10+ people.

$2000 just for the bride is outrageous. I'm getting married in a super expensive area and mine is only like $300.

There is no average as every artist charges a completely different amount and a large city costs more than a small town, but a large city also has a wide range of prices so it’s not automatically the most expensive. In high cost of living areas , you can find people willing to work on a tight budget.

Is this for the bride only or everyone? Is it just makeup or hair too? Some artists do charge that much for makeup on the bride only but those are rare. The pictures that I have seen of the $2000 makeup don’t look any better than the $200 makeup that someone down the street charges.

2k for one person is insane. I’m paying $1500 for myself and 4 others and she was one of the most expensive option out of all the ones I found and liked in the area I’m getting married in.

I’m paying about 2k for 7 people in my area so that does seem high. I’d look at what’s included and if there is a travel fee.

I'm spending a little over $500 for my trial and wedding day hair/makeup. I'm in the DC area.

I have send an inquiry to make sure what’s all included in the bridal package. Even then 2000 seems unreasonable.

That's extremely expensive. I had a pretty high end makeup artist and that's around what we paid for my bridal makeup AND the makeup for my bridesmaids!

I may be of the minority opinion. But honestly nothing is too much when it comes to having good face! Tbh I am spending a bit more than that. But I am paying for a celebrity makeup artist and to me it is worth it. But certainly there are great MUA who can do a great job for less. I just adore this MUA work and am soaking no expense.

Hey Allison if you happen to see this, may I ask who your wedding hair/makeup person is? I'm also getting married in the DC area and had budgeted $500. Much appreciated!

So I actually messed up on the total price, it's going to end up being more than $500 for both, but my hair and makeup artist said she was fully booked for 2022 (for Saturdays at least). I used The Knot website to find her, so I would look there!

Awesome that's good to know! I've found a couple places and been quoted around $600 for trial + wedding hair/makeup so that's good to know that's your ballpark as well.

I think $600 is a great price! If anything, it's below average. I contacted over 25 hair and makeup artists, so I have a lot to compare that to.
