Even though I've seen multiple episodes of SYTTD with vow renewal brides, I've read multiple places that ONLY a bride - e.i. Unmarried woman - can wear anything that could even be mistaken for a bridal gown. Is this true? Is this one of those things where guests would secretly be whispering about...

Even though I've seen multiple episodes of SYTTD with vow renewal brides, I've read multiple places that ONLY a bride - e.i. Unmarried woman - can wear anything that could even be mistaken for a bridal gown. Is this true? Is this one of those things where guests would secretly be whispering about how silly she looked? We never had an actual "wedding" and even hubby is looking forward to see his "beautiful bride", so I've been all stoked about finally having that experience but now I'm a bit worried. Would you think a renewal gal was embarrassing herself with an honest to goodness bridal gown? Honest opinions please.

Wear what you want. A lot of people get married then have the big party later for lots of reasons, there is no shame in that. Don't try to please people, there is nothing wrong with having your day.

I’m so glad to see your answer. I’ll have been with my husband 21 years 14 married by the time we have our renewal. We had a rushed wedding. My kids will be 20 and 15 and will get to finally have MY DREAM WEDDING, including my DREAM DRESS

Nah, wear whatever makes you happy. Some girls choose not to even WEAR A WEDDING DRESS to their own weddings...

Im sure you will have some tacky ninny making a comment but who cares what they think.

In days when all second, third, and future weddings, a ride was expected not to wear white, already wed women at receptions long after the wedding, or vow renewals, were not expected to wear white either. And any pregnant brides, though never married before and on their first, were not to wear white either. Numerous churches actually forbid it . And PG BM or MOH horrified people too.
Aren't you happy things have changed? Long cathedral trains and veiling look out of place in a reception hall. But a white gown appropriate to the enue is fine.
