Bridal expos

Alexis, on February 10, 2020 at 4:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I’m newly engaged and just started going to expos in hopes of finding vendors and getting ideas for my wedding. However I’ve noticed some expos are packed with pyramid scheme companies/MLMs that prey on brides. Personally i was offended by them trying to push their products and basically being told I’m fat and ugly and how much i can improve by the wedding with their products. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s kind of disheartening.Maybe I’m just overreacting but that’s really been bugging me. Please tell me they aren’t all like this 😔

Well, that is how all MLMs are and, unfortunately, they are infiltrating/taking over more and more expos, events, craft fairs, etc. But all events are different. The next bridal expo you are interested in, you could check out the list of vendors ahead of time to see if they allow MLMs. Not all do. I would also provide feedback to the organizers of events that do allow MLMs. If no one complains, they won't change. Good luck finding an MLM-free event!

I went to one and it didn't feel worth it to me because it did feel like people pushing schemes. I "won" a make up brush set but couldn't claim it until I allowed them to host a party at my house or something with other women to advertise their products

If they had a vendor list out i probably wouldn’t have gone honestly but i couldn’t find it. Fingers crossed the next time i go to one they don’t have any mlms

Yeah, I'm sure that depends on the event, too (whether or not they provide vendor lists ahead of time). Fingers crossed for you! But also know that lots of people don't find expos that helpful (even if they aren't MLM-fests), so you probably aren't missing out on too much. I have worked a couple (as a catering server) and they always seem sort if hit and miss, quality wise.

I usually just avoid their booths and move quickly to the next one. But I agree, I wish that expos wouldn't allow MLMs.

Woh! No. I’ve never even knew they had such a thing. Wouldn’t even do it to myself. Lol. Hope you can avoid all the disrespectful vendors in the mean time.

We stuck with smaller shows rather than the big expos. They seem to have less of that there and more vendors that we may be interested in. I never understood why I’d need new windows while I was planning a wedding....
