Bridal Expo “raffle Winner”

Emily, on October 9, 2019 at 8:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Hey y’all!

My fiancé and I went to a bridal show over the weekend. Of course they shove it in your face to sign up for everything. So we signed up for this kitchen ware raffle. (Honestly I cant remember half of what I signed up for)

So I got a phone call today stating that I have work 3 prizes and I was a “winner”. 1st prize was 2 custom wedding bands from JVL jewelry 2. 3night/2day stay at any choice of resort and location such as Mexico, Bahamas, Dominican...or any US state such as Florida, California, or Las Vegas and 3. $200 gift card for customizing champagne glasses or whatever else we would like to choose from a customization website.

She then proceeded to tell me that we must attend an 1 hour and a half cooking demonstration to show off their latest cookware and WE DONT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING. All we would have to do is sit there...do a review at the end and we receive all 3 prizes.

Has anyone done this?!?! Is this a scam? She asked if we would like to go this Saturday at 3pm with like 4 couples that also won...

what should we do?!?!

Most of these are either scams or have major strings attached. For example you won a trip but oh yea you can only travel these dates. We won something similar and they would not stop calling us even after I told them we were not interested. I have seen both sides of the story. Some people have successfully gone and gotten prizes others who said they were bullied into buying something. If you do choose to go definitely be prepared for the pressure they put on you.

Everyone “wins” these things. Sadly they are high pressure sales tactics and not worth your time.

Unfortunately, it's probably a scam. That or they'll make you jump through tons of hoops to get it!

I won this in August and honestly it’s a lot of hype just for overpriced cookware. The 2 wedding bands are fine, but $300 a piece so your gift card covers just the bands themselves and not the tax. In my opinion the bands are great for men, but kind of manly for women. The “free honeymoon” is not free. You have to pay the taxes for the trip. May be worth it just for a 3 day stay in the United States but not at one of their Jamaican or Bahama resorts. The champagne glasses are okay, but also not free. You pay $20 to get them shipped to you. The people at the demonstration make basic food (grilled chicken and veggies) anyone can cook themselves then basically shove pots and pans down your throat to pressure you to buy them. There is a payment plan, but to us they aren’t worth it and was a waste of an evening.
