Bridal entrance music

Chelsey, on March 21, 2023 at 12:12 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
Hello - I am working on the ceremony entrance songs for the bridal party and myself. I plan to have a different song for the bridal party + flower girl then from my own.

The song I am choosing has lyrics and there is a specific part of the song that I want to wait and start walking. However the part of the song I want to start walking is about 55 seconds into the song.
My question - is waiting 55 seconds to long before I start walking? I want to keep the beginning of the song and a build up but I’m not sure if that’s too long in between when my bridal party stop walking and I start.

That is definitely too long to have nothing happening. I recommend less than 20 seconds from start of song to you walking down. Could you be okay starting at that point? Or could your flower girl go during the first 55 seconds?

Having nearly a minute of people standing looking for you and you not coming will definitely look like something went wrong or you aren't coming haha

Haha that makes total sense. I was worried thats what it would look like. But I do like the idea of the flower girl going down the first 55 seconds of the song. Thank you for your input!

You could also start playing the song at a later point. Like if it has two verses and then then a bridge and a chorus, and you’re wanting to walk out at the first chorus, you could start the song at the second verse or something so it’s not as far in. I also heard an interview of a wedding musician a few weeks ago, and he talked about brides miscalculating how long it takes them to get from wherever they’re coming from to the aisle and then down the aisle itself. So you could also time it so the part you want playing starts like when you’re halfway down the aisle, or wherever makes sense for how long your aisle is.

Oh that’s a really good point. Did he say how to calculate the time correctly?

No, this particular musician is employed by the venue, so he just knows how long it generally takes brides to come down the aisle. But if your ceremony venue is publicly accessible, you can always go and time it yourself. You could also ask your venue for the aisle dimensions and space between the aisle and your starting point (something they probably have on hand for decor purposes).
