Bridal Brunch & Bubbly!

Future Mrs M, on March 27, 2018 at 10:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

My MOH and FMIL are planning my shower and are doing all the work. Originally, I did not want one, but think this is a fun time for me to mingle with both sides. With that being said, they know my favorite meal is brunch, so that is the theme... I was asked to make the menu, but I am a little stuck. When I think brunch I think a full meal.. the event is taking place at 1pm.. should I still suggest a full meal? Meats, potatoes, eggs, waffles, parfait, etc? Or is it typically finger foods and lighter fare?

ETA: She said whatever I wanted would go, but I want to know what is normally expected.. invites are already out as brunch and bubbly

1pm is lunch time to me, so I'd expect a full meal. In addition to any breakfast foods you might have, I strongly suggest having something like a green salad, maybe with grilled chicken, and some wraps or sandwiches, because not everyone likes breakfast food.

We're literally doing the exact same thing and my invites were titled as 'Brunch and Bubbly' lol how funny.

So, my mom, sister, and mother-in-law went with a full-out brunch buffet - Eggs, potatoes, ham, bagels, croissants, pastries, yogurt parfaits, etc. We are having a mimosa bar as well. You could totally do a full meal at 1 pm, as you'd probably eat lunch then anyway. I love full meals at bridal showers, as they can sometimes last for hours, depending on the crowd.

When I think of brunch for a crowd, I think of a buffet with things like an egg & meat based casserole that is easy to prepare in advance, muffins & bagels, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and champagne. Since it's a shower, add in cake or cupcakes for toward the end of the shower. I think it's a lot to ask the hosts to prepare items like waffles and eggs, that take a lot of last minute prep. There are tons of great, easy brunch casseroles that can be prepared the day before and then just baked -- quiche would be another option! Sounds wonderful though!

It is being catered, so the food selection won't be an issue.

& yes, FallBride.. definitely some type of sandwich will be served, as well. I just was not sure that the full meal thing was too much? Good to know my thoughts are in the right direction Smiley smile

If the invitations say brunch, people will expect brunch, which is a full meal. Guests will structure their eating that morning around their expectation that they will be served a meal.
