Bridal Bouquet Stress

WifeandDogMom, on July 3, 2018 at 1:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

Hi all!

I get married in 17 days and I am freaking out. Every florist I have talked to in Boulder, Colorado can't make me a bridal bouquet under $50. The ones that are around $50 are literally the size of the palm of my hand. I don't know what to do. They don't have any walmart's or anything nearby and whole foods can't guarantee that they'd have certain flower colors. I'm driving from Wisconsin to Colorado. Is there any way a bouquet would last from Thursday night until Saturday afternoon? What do I do?

Have you looked into artificial flowers? Usually bridal bouquets are pretty pricey, also depending on what type of flowers you'd like.

I looked at some silk ones but they still look so fake to me, I’m probably just going to have to suck it up and go for fake ones though

They're honestly the cheapest option, and you won't have to worry about the flowers drying up and dying in the time frame either.

I went to Hobby Lobby and got my flowers during one of their 50% off sales. Do they look the MOST realistic? Of course not. But in pictures I don't think it'll make too much of a difference and you can find some really pretty ones at Hobby Lobby too!

Have you thought of an alternative to flowers like a broach bouquet? Takes a but of time to do it yourself but you could hire some one to make one quickly!

Why not just put your own bouquet together? Most retailers and grocery stores have an array of flowers to choose from. Some even have the mix and match. By ribbon in your wedding colors, look up ideas on how top make one you love. You can probably do it for around 20-30 everything included.

Call local grocery stores if you haven't already. Probably won't be able to get under $50 (where did you get that budget from? I haven't seen bridal bouquets that cheap anywhere), but you might be able to get something under $100.

It’s my own budget. My matron of honor got hers for $30 and it was beautiful so I went off that price range.

None of the grocery stores there have a great floral selection. I might just do carnations

Hi there!! I'm so sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting a bouquet. It looks like you are thinking about having the bouquet made in Wisconsin and transporting it to Colorado? If so, there are some ways to preserve your flowers! Making sure that they're in water and in a cool environment is one of the top ways to preserve them before use. Some bouquets depending on the type of flower can do well in a refrigerator. You can always ask the florist what is the best way to preserve them after your drive and until the wedding! Alternatively, you can look into artificial arrangements which can be found at places like Micheals or Hobby Lobby.

I'm getting married next year and I'm using fake flower but with real greenery and fillers. It's an affordable option

Flower Moxie. Order asap, the flowers get delivered the Wednesday before your Saturday wedding. You can arrange the bouquet however you want. They'll last if you take care of them! What kind of flowers do you want? They also have tutorial videos on the website on how to put together a bouquet yourself!

If it's just a bouquet for you I suggest ordering 1 bunch of greenery (around $15 give or take), find 1 type of flower you love (white spray roses are $29 for a full bouquet of 8-10 stems, 3 flowers per stem, there are a lot of flower options)

Add the greenery into the roses and it would look lovely!

I've added some great flowers below that would keep you below $50!

I know people have suggested faux flowers, but some of the "real feel" faux hydrangeas at Hobby Lobby are SUPER convincing. They're pricier, but even if you get three and maybe some greenery, I think that'd look nice. Hydrangeas are a pretty full bloom so it won't take many. Also the Hobby Lobby lamb's ear and dusty miller are convincing greenery selections you could add. Not sure what it'll come to, but there's almost always a coupon online. You just need to show them at checkout. It's usually around 40% off. Good luck!

Have you reached out to grocery stores or Costco or Sam's Club? I'm not sure about their pricing, but I know they are cheaper than florists. Longmont is near Boulder, so I'd reach out to surrounding areas that aren't so expensive like Longmont, Erie, Lafayette, Denver, Firestone, etc. I don't think a bouquet would last Thursday to Saturday, especially traveling.

I live in Denver and I just picked up some BEAUTIFUL garden roses from Whole Foods as well as some smaller but gorgeous peonies from King Soopers. Costco also always has an amazzzzzing assortment too. I think you'll be able to find something!!

For Boulder, here are your grocery store options:

Whole Foods 2905 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80301

King Soopers 3600 Table Mesa Dr, Boulder, CO 80305 OR 1650 30th St, Boulder, CO 80301
    Safeway
4800 E Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80303 OR 2798 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80302

(hint, next to the first Safeway is "boulder blooms" and you can probably find something there)

Hit up the dollar stores near you. Spend the time in the car fixing up your bouquet. You won't find anything black (idk if you're looking for black or which colors you're looking for) but they have a nice selection. I recommend you bring a decent pair of dykes (wire cutting tool or you could use a pair of plant shears), glue, ribbon, and floral tape (can get everything at the dollar tree!!) Reshape your flowers (up you want to, you don't have to), if you cut the bunches into singles, you'll need skewers so the stems are long enough, and that's where the floral tape works. It's like stretchy masking tape. You stretch it a bit to make it sticky, but if you stretch it too much it'll rip. Which is really no big deal, just pick up where you left off. Good luck!!

Oh, the glue is for reshaping...I forgot to add that. A quick drying glue is best (I am using hot glue, but that's hard to do in the car)

Can you just purchase the colors you want from a florist and put it together yourself?

Where exactly are you getting married and what colors are you looking for? I can't at least tell you what I've seen in Denver if that helps...
