Bridal Bouquet Quote -- Does this sound reasonable?

orchid21, on February 9, 2010 at 5:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

A florist here in Phoenix quoted me $185 for a bouquet that will have about 30-40 white ranunculus and 10 stems of lily of the valley. (I showed her the bouquet on the front of Real Simple Weddings 2010 as the inspiration). I know that lily of the valley is usually expensive but ranunculus can often be cheaper than roses. I think she said it would take about an hour to put the bouquet together.

Does this price sound ok? (I'm considering just ordering some ranunculus wholesale and then making a simple hand-tied one of just ranunculus. It would be nice to not have to worry about it though. Maybe there are some better alternatives to the lily of the valley?). (I'd need the bouquet at the end of March btw).

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I don't know what floral costs in your area are but I personally wouldn't spend that much on flowers. I just happen to think that's a lot of money for something that's going to die.

Actually it is about right, i would shop around still thought. It is crazy how much bridal bouquets costs!!! Another thing I would ask if they have any flowers that are close to lily of the valley to cut costs. If you can't find anything 125 or less, I would def. think about doing your own...just my opinion.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I respect florists' talent and their need to make a living but I don't think I can handle paying that much for my flowers... There are so many other things I'd rather spend it on like helping my relatives get to the wedding or putting it in the "save for a house" account. Smiley smile I think I should look for less expensive inspiration too than the cover of Real Simple. hehe

I got a quote of $125 for something similar, and I am in a pricey area, so I would shop around.

I think that's a little high. I don't know how big it would be, but I had roses and calla lillies (both expensive) for about $120 (if I recall correctly). So, I say shop around or ask for pricing on alternatives.

Well the florist shop that I went to quoted me $250 for my bouquet, boutineers, and rose petals, and extras to go around the cake. Shoot that sounded good to me, since I wanted to go with a cascading bouquet. Everyone else was very expensive. I am using roses and calla lillies. Shop around maybe to see if you can come up with a better price.

I think that you might want to shop around a little bit. My bouqet with roses, tulips, callas, freezia, and the mini roses was quoted at $150.

I'm in Phoenix and was going to use Amanda at Butterflypetals.com. We have changed our plans and are having a very small ceremony now so I have decided to do the flowers myself. She seemed to be reasonably priced, was very helpful and worked with us to keep our flowers within our budget. She waived the delivery fee, suggested similar flowers that were less expensive and threw some things in for free. Good luck!

We are using a local florist that does wedding flowers. My bouquet is costing $100-roses, starburst lillies, & greenery fillers and will also have pearl sprays. I thought this was pretty reasonable from pricing I have done. Believe it or not, roses can actually run cheaper than you think. I had looked at bridedesign.com and the lilies were actually more expensive! In fact the only thing that I remember being cheaper than roses were carnations.

Lily of the Valley ARE extremely expensive....looking at my pricelist...retail, not meticulously babied over for a wedding, a bunch of only TEN would be about $99 (ten are very very small), ranunculus $30 for ten. So you can see, they are very dear, price-wise. Check out this link for another florists' price on lily of the valley wedding bouquet to compare: http://www.bloomeryweddings.com/blog/FeaturedBouquetLilyOfTheValleyBridalBouquet.aspx

Z, Amanda at butterflypetals.com in Phoenix is a creative florist and a very nice, honest person. She would've done you up well Smiley smile and I'm sure she appreciates your kind words. Have a lovely ceremony and enjoy your special day Smiley smile.

I have to say something here even the wedding was in 2010. Flowers are very expensive, good quality flowers anyway. I know we are all on a budget, but the flowers should not be the place you are trying to cut costs on. They are the first thing your guest see, especially the bride walking down the isle. Liiy of the valley costs $25 a bunch wholesale. When you go to a florist you are also paying for the bills they have such as the rent, the flower shop light bills and a profit. That is why I use EventAzteca.com They are fresh flower fulllfillment center, that offers at near wholesale prices.
