Bridal Bouquet Help!

Taylor, on February 4, 2020 at 10:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7

Hello everyone! This is my first ever discussion post on here so hopefully I don't sound dumb! Smiley laugh My FH and I are attempting to really budget down our wedding (i.e. making some of our own decorations and invitations, etc.) but still make it beautiful and memorable! I have been searching for possible florists and after seeing some of the prices (made my eyes pop!) I think it would be best to save money and make our own floral arrangements for the reception, decorations, and bridal bouquet!

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks on how to make my own bridal bouquet? I'm debating between a round or cascading bouquet but I think I'm leaning more towards a slightly cascading bouquet! What else other than flowers should I include? What should I use to keep the tied flowers tightly together? Michael's or Hobby Lobby for flowers? Or would it be better to buy a bouquet off of Amazon or Etsy? Just worried about these options not having the colors I'd want to go with our colors! (Navy, white, and gold)! I really appreciate any tips or tricks as I'm a very very nervous planner and have never planned anything like this before! Smiley smile

I'm getting my flowers done by weideas.com! They're fake but you cannot tell at all and it's like....a quarter of the price of fresh flowers!!

If you want a cascading boquet, you will need a bouquet holder. It's styrofoam with a handle. If you are doing a hand bouquet, you will need floral tape to secure the stems together, you can then cover the stems by winding ribbon over the tape and securing it with a pin or hot glue.
I'd add greenery and "filler" flowers...meaning airy looking things like baby's breath or Heather( silk flowers) to soften the look , instead of just large flowers.
Hope that makes sense. Smiley smileCongratulations!

Youtube! I am making my bouquet also and I found quite a few helpful tutorials. I was thinking about ordering my artificial flowers on Wish.com, although, I am not sure yet if that will save money as opposed to going to a craft store. I hope that helps!!

My colors are also navy with white and greenery. I'm making all my bouquets and flower decor. I've gotten all my flowers and greenery from Hobby Lobby. They had the bigger selection compared to Michael's, at least where I live. Also Hobby Lobby has their florals 50% off every other week so I only bought them when they were on sale. I didn't make a cascading bouquet so I'm not sure how you would do that but I did google how to put a bouquet together and after a few tries, it's not that difficult. I used floral tape to hold it together then wrapped it with navy ribbon and pinned it. They turned out really pretty. Also I only used white flowers and lots of greenery but they do have some options for navy flowers at Hobby Lobby if you wanted that. I enjoyed making my bouquets because it makes it personal and you get to make them how you want. You can buy them already made on Etsy or Amazon but I wanted that DIY aspect! Good luck!

I made my bouquets. I order the flowers from lings moments. We are on a budget too. The price for the quality was fantastic. I looked at different inspiration ideas on Pinterest for what I like mine to look like and the watches a few vids on YouTube on how to then chose what kind of greenery I liked. And went from there. I also bought a foam bouquet holder so it was easier to place where I wanted things and then I wrapped rope around the handle of the bouquet holders. These are the bouquets I made for my wedding I spent less the 200 for all the bouquets and things I needed for them Bridal Bouquet Help! 1

Bouquets are not hard but require patience and trial & error. I used dollar tree flowers mostly with misc. items from Michaels. If you do cascading, I would suggest getting a bouquet holder and wire cutters to shorten the stems as needed. Bridal Bouquet Help! 2

Sams club (if they’re in your area) has some amazing prices for flowers. Also amazon has some great bouquet building stuff to make it super easy for you. Maybe checkout a library book on floral design!
