Breathless Punta Cana

Ashlee , on August 29, 2015 at 9:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Has anyone heard of this resort or been there?! It looks amazing but I am not sure it is right for a honeymoon. Would love to hear of someone who has gone!

My now-husband and I ALMOST booked our honeymoon there!!! We wanted a honeymoon that was fun, we like to eat, drink, dance, etc. so we wanted lots of activities. However, RIGHT before we booked our travel agent heard back from 2 different clients who had recently vacationed there and they did NOT have positive things to say! So ultimately we decided on somewhere else.

Breathless is a chain that is geared more towards singles. If you're set on Punta Cana, I hear Secrets Royal Beach (also owned by AMStar) is really nice and is adults only.

We totally changed plans and ended up at Secrets Silversands in Riviera Maya, Mexico and loved it! However I know someone who just got married and honeymooned at Dreams Palm Beach (Dreams is a sister brand of Secrets) and loved it!

Thanks! We actually are a bit scared of Punta Cana now after looking at reviews and safety stuff regarding the water being REALLY AWFUL, even worse than Mexico. Looking more towards Jamaica or Bahamas now.

Its pretty new, I think. When we were there (stayed at Excellence), people complained they didn't quite have it all together yet.

Excellence was really wonderful. Their beach wasn't great, though, but we're pool people and don't mind. No safety issues, though, but we stayed on the resort or guided excursions.

We are going to Punta Cana but I can't remember which resort. I have had a ton of coworkers who have gone and they RAVED it! I will definitely let you know my experience in t-minus 2 months.

I went to Punta Cana 3 years ago on vacation. I loved it! We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. I saw a couple of weddings take place. There are many resorts in the area.

    Hi Ashlee!

Don't be afraid of my country!! You'll have a blast!

I've been to Royal Catalonia Bavaro (adults only). I've heard that Excellence Punta Cana is gorg! Perhaps this list will sway you towards Dominican Republic Smiley smile

Punta Cana is amazing. I've been there twice and haven't had any safety issues. We stayed at the Majestic Elegance both times. We had such a great time!

I went to Breathless last July! My fiance and I really loved it. It was still a brand new resort but honestly they had great entertainment and the rooms with the swim up pool is great! It's like a lazy river right outside your room! We got a great deal when we went also since it was new. I seriously loved the whole trip, the water wasn't bad at all. I did get coral in my foot but that was my own fault since I didn't wear those water shoes. The food was good for the most part, they had multiple restaurants and a variety of options. To me resort food is resort food, so there wasn't like anything that stuck out. All the staff is so friendly and helpful. The hotel has a water purification system so you can drink all the water with no problems! The rooms also have a hot tub on every balcony( it is hidden so you're not on display) lol. If you want to know more about it you can message me! Smiley smile

I went to Punta Cana last year and stayed at the Hard Rock Cafe, its is so nice, classy and beautiful that I actually contemplated having our wedding there before deciding to not do destination. One of my friends stayed at a hotel about 5 minutes from the Hard Rock and I did not like the place at all so just make sure you pick a reputable hotel!

You may like it if you want a fun vacation. It does go after the single market. Why don't you go to one of there sister company's who want couples?
