I would like to first thank all of you who gave me advice and helped me track down my AWOL photographer. You guys are awesome, and you helped me way more than you know! I would like to first thank all of you who gave me advice and helped me track down my AWOL photographer. You guys are awesome, and you helped me way more than you know! Jeremy and I have decided to drop this photographer and go with someone new, we have already selected someone so the panic is over. Now my question is, how do we end our contract with the other photographer? I understand that we may not get our $300 back but it is worth a shot. Do we need a lawyer to end the contract or is it as simple as a phone call or email? Has anyone had to do this before? Thank you all again!

I tried to get my deposit back from our videogrpaher when we cancelled and it was a no go. Def worth a shot but I wouldn't count on seeing that money again ever. We cancelled our contract by email. When I requested something in writing from them, she said the email with suffice.

Eta: Writing about this now still makes me mad about how it went down. We cancelled 8 months out with plenty of time for them to fill the date. I even asked for half of the deposit back and they rudely refused. I don't understand why vendors do that. They are just pocketing that money for themselves at that point. Sorry, venting.
