Hello ladies! This whole thing may seem stupid and trvial, but I don't really have anyone else to vent to.

FH and I are thinking of doing a breakfast buffet for dinner. We went to another wedding that had that and we both LOVED it. I never questioned our decision until this weekend.

I had a party and after many drinks, one of my bridesmaid asked how the wedding planning was going. I said it was good but also stressful. I am the first of our friends to get married and everyone is throwing ideas/opinions at me. Lots of "you HAVE to do this". I appreciate that everyone is sooooo exited but sometimes it is a bit much. One of our other friends jumped in and said "well ya, you have the burden of getting married first" and another friend jumped in and said "well maybe people are just not as down for the dinner idea as you are. Other people jumped in and said they loved the idea., continue in comments

It's your party. You are hosting. As long as you are considerate and consider anyone with special dietary needs (vegan, gluten free, etc), it's all good. Do what makes you happy. There are NO rules, other than to feed your guests (and please don't have a cash bar). In fact, I probably wouldn't even share those details with people! Otherwise, the whiners are gonna whine....

PS - I think it sounds great!

Brinner is the best imo BUT unexpected for some. Your friend is kind of a dbag In how she brought it up but keep in mind not everyone will enjoy it like you do...

I don't like breakfast all that much. It also doesn't really fill me, so would a poor option for me if I were drinking.

I've never been to an event that had breakfast for dinner but I have done catering for two brunch time weddings. One had a pancake station where we cooked pancakes to order in front of people. It was a huge hit. So much so that the other brunch wedding we did wanted the same thing (but didn't want to pay for it). So we ended up doing different quiches, hash brown casserole, eggs, biscuits, a granola and yogurt bar, gravy, etc. I feel like there are ways to glam up breakfast for dinner to make it fun for everyone.

And on a side note, we're doing a huge BBQ spread for our wedding and I don't really care if other people would prefer to have a steak dinner. Ultimately, it's what you want that matters. It's your special day and just because other want to tell you what to do in that regard doesn't mean you should change up what you want.

We would love it but then again we eat "breakfast" at all times of the day. We honestly don't think that you should only eat one kind of food at certain times. We have also been known to cook homemade pizza for the first meal of the day as that is what we were in the mood to eat.

So I say if you guys like it go for it as it is your day and a sharing of you two and your likes.

I love love LOVE breakfast foods, and brinner is a weekly treat around here. I'd recommend serving some roast veggies, since those are a great side for egg dishes. You might also consider having a glazed, baked ham and some potatoes, since those fit into the overall breakfast theme but are still hearty enough for those who like a heavier meal in the evening.

I wouldn't do it. And I'm happy to eat anything at any time, but your menu selection will become a topic of conversation for the evening and beyond. As weird a it sounds, it takes the focus away from you.

I had oatmeal for dinner last night. I don't mind breakfast/brunch foods for dinner. Funny though -- I don't like non-breakfast foods for breakfast. No leftover cold pizza, no baked potato, no vegetables for breakfast!

I love breakfast so much! I think you got some great advice from previous posters. I would love to go to a wedding and eat breakfast, but I think most people will be thinking of normal dinner food.

When I first started planning my wedding I wanted all these personally things after a lot of come back down to earth moments, I decided to just be normal. We are going to have food that the majority will like, beef and chicken. We are going to have music that the majority will like, etc. We picked cake flavors that the majority will want to eat chocolate raspberry and vanilla raspberry. I fought a long and hard battle for a super lemony lemon cake.
