Bra/undergarments with a ballgown

Stephanie, on June 5, 2020 at 10:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Help! My dress is a ballgown and I’m not sure what kind of bra to where or where to look for one. The bridal shop put me in one to try on my dress for my first round of alterations but I didn’t care for it too much... it was a corset type bra. Any suggestions?

I wore a ballgown for my wedding and it had cups built in so I didn't need to worry about a bra. Have you considered that as an option?

It doesn’t have any built in. She is going to put bra clips on the inside so I can clip the dress and bra so they stay together.

You may want a bustier or "long-line" bra, rather than a regular bra - remember the dress will tug on your undergarments if they're clipped together.

It was recommended to me to not wear a bra. Dress fits better without it and we are adding extra cups on the inside of the dress for support. I am very chesty, but it Fit quite securely without a bra.

What kind of top does the dress have?

I posted a picture of my dress. I don’t think built in cups will work for it. I think I need like a push up bra to make sure I fill the top out appropriately.

Haha how did I miss that lol. I would agree with the other comment. A longer bra with structure, kind of corset style would work well.

I have a bra like this and honestly I love it, it super comfy (for a structured bra) and I feel extra sexy in it lol

Mine is a bit different and black with lace. I think they call it a long line bustier plunge bra. I found mine at a boutique bra store.

Try herroom.com online maybe? They have a great selection if you know your size. I had to go up a cup size with this bra.

You should see if it's possible for the seamstress to add the cups in? My dress is a ballgown and I'm having them add the bra cups when they do alterations.
