Bracelet for the train vs. regular bustle?

Sully, on October 15, 2018 at 11:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I just had a consult with a seamstress and she suggested that I do two bracelets for the train for the reception instead of a regular bustle. I guess she would add the bracelets in and you hold your train up on your wrist. She said it was ultimately up to me, but doing the regular bustle will cost more than the bracelet. She said she prefers the bracelets because it looks classier especially when dancing. My mom thinks that might be prettier too and I should do that. She held the dress up the way it would look bustled and how it would look with the bracelet. My concern is having to have the dress on my wrist all night. Has anyone done the bracelet? If so how was it?

I can't speak for 'experience' part of this post, but I think the type of bustle you choose will greatly depend on the style of your dress. For mine, I couldn't imagine having fabric hanging off of my wrist all night (satin mermaid with long train). Maybe try a mock trial run at your next appointment if it's possible!

Having a dress wrapped around my wrist all night would bug the heck out of me. To me, it's pretty but it just doesn't look comfortable.

I can’t imagine having to hold a dress up all night every time I stood up out of my chair. I did this during pictures before my dress was bustled and it was honestly a pain in the butt. Some people don’t mind it though.

That does sound pretty but I can’t imagine carrying that around all night. I would be afraid of moving my arm too much and ripping something.

Looks so pretty to do the "bracelet", but we are doing a choreographed dance for our first dance, so no way this would work for me. Have to get it tucked up and out of the way....LOL

I'm not a fan of the bracelet ones. I don't like having a bracelet on in general, much less dragging around my train the whole night on my wrist.

I think that totally depends on the dress. Hard to say without pics. But I do agree that some bustles aren't very attractive so I get where you're coming from.

I would advise against the wristlets. My dress had one, but I didn't want to be bothered with lugging around so much extra weight. I have really small wrists, so that was a no-brainer for me.

Like everyone else says it sounds pretty but not practical.
