Bra shopping: Scoliosis and Backfat

Lala, on May 30, 2016 at 2:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

I've been trying to find a bustier to support my large bust and have had a terrible time. I have severe scoliosis and my left scapula sticks out. The sticking out is exacerbated when I wear certain strapless bras/bustiers, creating a sort of back boob on my left side that hangs over the bra band.

Normally, this doesn't bother me because I cover it with my hair. However, the last straw was today when my mom gave me a hand massager and told me to use it to "melt my backfat away". I burst into tears shortly afterwards.

Here is a pic of the back of my dress (that is NOT me in the pic): https://dg7jf5sx2cq0y.cloudfront.net/photo/2/cGhvdG86YmhsZG4/177ed7b1-6ebf-5a40-bb62-e60ee3186773

Does anyone have recommendations for bras? I'd try for a bigger band, smaller cup, but unfortunately with my bust size I end up sagging. Can't win here. Smiley sad

C I'm sorry your Mom made you cry.

I looked at your profile info and see you're in Mount Shasta. I Googled "bra fitting mount Shasta ca" and a couple of places showed up that deal specificly with medical conditions and custom bras. I have no idea how close you are to any of these places but do a Google search.

A Private Affair in Sherman Oaks sounded cool.

    Best wishes C.

Kathleen is right on target. I would definitely suggest that you seek out a bra boutique in your area that works with their customers to ensure the best possible fit. Your mom should never have made those comments to you. That is awful! Sometimes mothers say things that can just cut so deep and they don't realize those words can never be un-said. Mothers should lift you up. Your dress is gorgeous. I am sure you will be beautiful in it. Please lean on the brides and grooms on Wedding Wire. We will do our best to support you.
