boutonnieres necessary?

Ella, on June 8, 2017 at 4:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I am considering skipping boutonnieres for our groomsmen. They are wearing tuxedos with pocket squares. FH is also wearing a patterned black and white bow-tie. I'm worried that also wearing boutonnieres would look too busy. are they necessary? has anyone else skipped these?

It's one or the other. Since you have pocket squares you don't need bouts

I think one or the other would be fine. It would probably look busy if you did both.

I personally just don't love the way bouts look, so we went with pocket squares instead!

I bought pocket squares for them and my mom ordered bouts. The venue misplaced the bouts until we were in the reception. Pictures were done and everything. I still get bitter about it because my mom had already paid for BP flowers but glad we had pocket squares. Pictures do look good thought, you can definitely go without them.

    I prefer them but I wouldn't say they're "necessary".

Ok, thanks for all the opinions! i don't love bouts either, so i think we will just stick with pocket squares. i just wasn't sure if it would be "wedding-y" without them.

I got a bout just for DH off etsy. The GM just had pocket squares.

We decided on boutonnieres and then pocket squares were optional. We decided to use both.

Here is what it looked like:

    Thanks!

Our boutonnieres were like $10 each so we figured why not. The pocket squares came with the rental and we decided to choose white (to match with shirt to it won't have too many colours) and then decided the day of to use them or not as optional.
