Bouquet Advice for Bridal Portraits?

Kelsie, on April 11, 2017 at 12:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

My family and I are all huge fans of flowers. My wedding decor is basically all flowers. I am having my wedding at a nursery/greenhouse in August. I meet with my florist to plan out flowers this month and I am not sure what to do about my bouquet for my bridal portraits. My florist quoted me $200-$300 for the bouquet I want but there is no way I can afford to pay that price twice (one bouquet for my bridal portraits, the other for the actual wedding day). I was thinking about making my own bouquet with wholesale flowers (costing around $60) for the portraits and having the florist make just one for the wedding day. I am open to other ideas and advice! And yes, having a bouquet in my bridal portraits is a must for me! All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a local grocery store with a floral department that will be able to make one? I've even heard Whole Foods does really pretty arrangements.

Can't you just do your bridal portraits the day of the wedding?

My bm made a fake bouquet for me to use at my bridal portraits. I think that it looks nice.

I definitely won't have time to take them the day of the wedding. I only have my venue for 4 hours (this includes my ceremony) and I am not doing a "first look" before the wedding so I already have to set aside time for formals with my new husband and the bridal party.

I have a local wholesale florist that I was planning on buying the flowers from for my DIY bouquet, if I go with that option.

I did a bridal session as well--totally worth it! So fun and got to do an extra hair and makeup trial. It also gave me the chance to see that my straps needed to be taken in a little more as the slid off during my bridals easily. My wedding venue and florist was about an hour south of where I live and wanted to do my bridals so getting a duplicate bouquet wasn't reasonable to me..I wound up going to Whole Foods and having them make me a bouquet-one that I loved but was dif than what I picked for wedding day (mainly because I didn't reach out in time for them order specifics for me). I'll post a pic from both bridals and wedding day for comparison. Whole Foods charged me about 100 for bridal portrait bouquet, one for wedding was almost $300.

    Wedding day one pictured here.

A better pic of wedding day florals for comparison to bridal portrait florals. Obviously they look pretty different but I was super happy with both and its kind of nice to have pics with two different looks.

@Kelsie- couldn't you just go to a beautiful park the morning of the wedding to take pictures? I'm not suggesting you do it after the ceremony. I'll be taking 2 hours of pictures before the ceremony of just me, me with my mom, etc. then after ceremony we'll do pictures together.
