I find myself in all 3 categories. 1st time planning a wedding, always the bridemaid, never the bride.
I had no idea how much things cost!!!
My most expensive things Venue & Food. There's nothing else that will exceed the cost of those 2 things. I love the details in pictures & how the photographer can capture those precious moments!!!The cost of the photographer cannot/will not exceed the price of my venue or food!!!Just venting...

I underestimated the cost of things myself, and because of that, my initial budget was unrealistic. But even with my updated budget, I’m always searching for the best deal on everything and I’m determined to come in under budget.

Yup, I cried several times while planning over the cost. 😭 A few cost-saving tips:

    1) Ask venues about off-season or weekday rates2) Brunch is significantly cheaper than dinner, if that appeals to you3) If you have a small wedding (20 or fewer guests), ask venues if they have an elopement or private wedding package deal

Yeah wedding costs can get crazy! I've worked in events so I knew to expect to pay a decent penny from the beginning but even then some costs exceeded my expectations! LOL!

My biggest advice is to PRICE MATCH!! Great ways to save money is to incorporate the flowers you use at ceremony into your decor at reception i.e. if you have arch flowers, they can be used at your sweetheart/bridal party table, bridesmaid bouquets can be used as centerpieces. Incorporate more greenery then flowers. Check out rental companies for things like signs! Originally we were going to pay around $80 for an unplugged ceremony sign but we learned of a rental company that had one for $15! You're thrifty so you got this!! It's going to be one beautiful day with DELICIOUS food! 💗

You are so right about the flowers. When a florist mentioned using decor flowers at both the ceremony and reception and using bridesmaids bouquets as reception centerpieces, I was blown away! And don’t sleep on Facebook marketplace or other resale venues. There are plenty of brides who are selling items they bought for their wedding at a significant discount. I bought 12 20-inch gold lanterns for $15 a piece from a bride on FB marketplace who got married in January and was trying to get rid of them. It was a steal. I search FB marketplace every now and then just to see what’s out there. So many discounted wedding items!!

Ours has been described as minimalist at least by our florist lol
We are hiring a florist but are doing mostly greenery because that is our preferred choice and it keeps the cost within our budget.
We may be a little thrifty as I’ve bought things on sale and on Etsy (my dress included at $300).
