Bought dress in different state?

Sara, on November 22, 2019 at 3:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Did anyone buy their dress out of state? I put my deposit down on my gown in Oklahoma. I live in Atlanta and keep thinking so much about it! How did you schedule your alterations and fittings?

I bought my dress in Texas and live in and got married in California. Had my dress shipped to my house and found a place here to do alterations.

I have the same problem! I bought my dress in South Florida (where I am getting married) and I live in Atlanta. I'm finding it way too difficult to do alterations in a different state because I'm not sure how many times I will need to get it altered and in what time frame so I'm driving it back up when I visit family over Christmas break. Might be easier to ship it if you are not going to Oklahoma anytime soon!

    Hey Sara!!

Are you getting married in Oklahoma, or is this just where you bought your dress?

If you are getting married in Oklahoma you could have your dress shipped to Atlanta for your alterations and then either travel back to Oklahoma with your dress for your wedding or have it shipped back before you arrive. Alternatively, you could travel to Oklahoma for each of your fitting (which would obviously be quite time consuming and costly!).

If you are getting married in Atlanta, I would definitely recommend contacting your bridal salon and ask about their shipping costs and methods to get your dress to you and then find a local alterations service to work on your dress.
