Botox

Bobbi, on June 27, 2017 at 11:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Anyone get/consider Botox before the wedding? I'm 36, not exactly looking as young as i used to and noticed my crows feet are getting pretty bad. I don't want my wedding pictures to look terrible but at the same time wondering if that's going over board and i should be happy with myself.

Girl, be happy with yourself. We all get wrinkles, and that's ok! I have huge crows feet, and I'm in my twenties. You'll still look so radiant.

Exactly what Christy said. You're way too close to your wedding to be trying Botox for the first time.

I get Botox for migraines. I can move my eyebrows, but my forehead looks like glass... It's pretty funny. Anyway, you're too close to do an procedures at this point. Start using a glycolic acid face wash (mario badescu and nip+fix make great ones that are very affordable) and get some really great moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and retinol. Neutrogena's deep wrinkle repair is great. Do follow directions on the packaging, regarding sun care. Find a daytime moisturizer you like, as well. These are OTC, so not like doing your own chemical peel, just helping exfoliate without harsh scrubbing, and prepping your skin for flawless makeup.

I have thought about this myself, but I'm afraid it will get messed up.

It's too close to your wedding to try it but I highly recommend for afterwards. I LOVE my Botox so much. I had some very deep forehead wrinkles and 11's and my derm has been Botoxing me for about a year and a half now. I'm 26.

When you decide to do botox (don't yet it's too close to your wedding) make sure you do your research and go to a reputable place near you!

I've been getting it for YEARS and I LOVE it! But I do agree with the others and it is a bit too soon to try it I think.

I've also been getting it for a few years (I'm 33 but using it as a preventative).I get my 11's treated and love it. I think it's something worth considering, but not at this point since you're a month away from your big day.

What you can and should do if you want to freshen your skin are 2 hyrdafacials or 1 microdermabrasion treatment. Saying these numbers given the time you have left.

Hydrafacials use water, light AHA's, suction, and hyaluronic acid to exfoliate and hydrate the skin (usually also involves extractions). It can help treat blemishes, oil slicks, rough/dry patches, and plumps creepy areas around the eyes, nose, and chin.

Microdermabrasion is a physical exfoliant that buffs away dead skin cells, making way for much smoother skin.

I would contact your dermatologist and see what they recommend. I'd also suggest an eye mask 1-2x's a week along with daily use of eye cream to help soften fine lines and brighten the eye area.

PS - I like some of the suggestions for products on here BUT PLEASE DONT USE THEM (unless you've used them before). You're also too close to your wedding to start using skin care you haven't used before that could cause your skin to have a reaction. I love a glycolic wash, but if you've never used one before it can purge your skin before making it better, and can cause serious irritation.

I got it for the first time! I did it two weeks ago, 5 weeks before my wedding. I got it for my crows feet and then under my eyes. I notice a definite difference in my crows feet and will certainly keep it up.

For reference, I'll be 32 in October.

@Asta -- In my lips. Loved the look but didn't last long 4 months at the most :/. Lips are also one of the hardest areas of the face to plump as things are quickly absorbed there so I think Juvederm is an industry standard filler for most other areas.

I totally recommend it. I am 29 but have a very thin face..no cheek volume lol so i get voluma and juvaderm. I get it on my cheeks and smile lines. U feel so much better and different. I always feel good about myself but getting little things like that makes u just feel...better. if you are in ca i can recommend someone Smiley smile

And you are not way too close to be getting botox. I would get it at least 2 werks before in case of any irritation. My sis is fine after a day. I get very little bruising when i voluma/juvaderm especially on lips and under eyes. Goes away in 3 to 5 days. If you are only doing botox (for anything above eyes) 2 weeks before is good.

@MsGem -- The consensus on the thread is, Botox is awesome, but to get it for the first time this close to her wedding is a bit risky.

@Asta- Have you had Botox before? Botox is used to treat the actual wrinkles so it paralyzes the muscle, then fillers like Voluma and Juvederm are sometimes used to "fill out" the wrinkles/deep lines. I don't think it's worth the money to just get a filler, when botox can help treat the wrinkle as a preventative

Fyi...fillers all have different names ...perlane, radiesse, voluma, juvaderm..and not all docs work with all of them. Some use mostly juvaderm and voluma. Juvaderm is most commonly used on lips and voluma on contouring...cheeks...etc.

I'm definitely open to botox and more when the time comes. But I echo what pp have said. Don't try anything new so close to the wedding. That goes with everything. Drastic hair color change, trying a spray tan for the first time. Just don't risk it so close to the big day. You will be a beautiful and happy bride on your wedding. And your hair and makeup will work wonders. Afterwards go for it and maybe hire a photographer for anniversary pictures or a boudoir shot if you're into that.

Oh and if you ladies have a crease on your forehead...i would recommend botox before it becomes a bigger issue. If it gets too deep then u decide to get it, you would need to get a filler (500-800) and botox (usually 10 -12) per unit. Sorry, im way too into this lol

Definitely too close to wedding especially for the first time. You can't undo it if it turns out bad--and I had bad Botox once. Needed to wait three months for it to wear off. If it is overdone. your brow falls closer to your eyes making you look tired and angry. Too little and you end up with "quizzical eyebrows."

I was warned on here not to get it for the first time 5 weeks before my wedding but honestly I'm so glad I did. It was over in 2 minutes (3 pricks on each set of crows feet, 1 under each eye) and I had zero side effects. If you do get it, I recommend going to a plastic surgeon's office. I did not have an actual MD do mine, but an RN with a BSN who has been in the industry for 15+ years. Our consultation was very thorough, no pressure (in fact she suggested not doing filler around my mouth like I wanted), and I felt like I was in great hands!
