Dedicated January 2015

bored bride...

stanthewoman2014, on August 28, 2013 at 4:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I got engaged in mid June and got so excited I started planning immediately. I am getting married next June and I already found my venue, caterer, photographer, cake maker and florist already. I know, I know, I am a little excited but now I am bored. My checklist just tells me to find a DJ and band which are both the FH's job since he has friends in the music biz. So... what to do now??? I am not interested in finding a dress yet since I want to go in Nov. with my wedding party. Any thoughts? Anyone else in the same boat?

I am kind of also in that boat. I designed and ordered my invites way early since I found a good deal on Vistaprint and I wanted a project. I figure they can just wait to be addressed and sent out closer to the date.

You could look for invitations or save-the-dates. Work on your ceremony vows and any elements you want to add. Gifts for the wedding party. Start a registry. Look at possible honeymoon locations.

I was similar to you where I got the bulk of my vendors out of the way early on. You can start thinking about any DIY stuff you want to do (pinterest!) or how you want to decorate the venue other than your floral arrangements. Think about your dances (intro, first dance, parent dances, walking down the aisle). Mmm I think that's all I have for now but if you do things like that little by little, it will keep you busy and will avoid the last minute laundry list of shit you forgot about Smiley smile

You could either take a break from wedding planning, or look at tasks for upcoming months and see how many of them you could get out of the way now.

Go with your FH to visit your DJ. The DJ is one of the most important parts of your special day because in addition to music, our job is to make sure that everything runs smoothly and coordinate the events of the day with your catering and other vendors to make sure you have a fun and stress free wedding.

Although hubby has some buddies in the biz, it's always a good idea to weigh your options. Visit with many entertainers to see what is out there. Learn about how they can make your wedding amazing for both you and your guests. Make sure your entertainer is a good fit for you and what you want for your special day. Remember, this is a big investment. You get one shot. Good luck! Smiley smile

Are you doing any DIY projects. I started mine last november and have only just finished them so that would keep you busy.

I definitely feel your pain. I got engaged in May and went full speed ahead and now its to the point where I cringe every time I get an email/text/call from my wedding coordinator asking me where I stand on things. I am over wedding planning!

I got engaged in December, and got a bunch of stuff out of the way immediately. Then I just went nuts waiting for July to roll around. Now that it's the end of August (3 months out) I finally get to do stuff :-)
