Booking venue for October 2021

Rhiannon, on February 22, 2018 at 3:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
The FH and I think we’ve found the perfect venue, and we’ve been given the option of booking it now with an $800 deposit to lock in the 2018 costs ($5590 for 50 people- ceremony and reception including food and the cake!), or we can wait until we’ve seen and heard from more and pay whatever it ends up being in 2021. Does anyone know roughly how much it would increase over three years? And if it’s worth paying the deposit now?

I think that sounds like a great deal for venue/food/cake. If it's the perfect venue then I don't see a downside??

There is no way to know what the specific increase for inflation would be over three years - especially not at that specific venue. It's agood deal to lock in this years price since the price will only go up and not down. If you like this place and want to book there then I would go ahead

If you want to wait and look around more than that is also a choice but it just depends on what its worth to you

Some venues increase their prices more than once a year so there could stand to be a substantial increase in price and an $800 deposit is not much compared to some locations that ask for 50% down. I would take the chance to get the pricing locked in as long as you truly like the venue and options.

We booked at the end of 2016 to lock in prices for our 2018 wedding, and they wound up not increasing the menu prices for anything- not to say that this is normal by any means, but if you love the venue, I'd say go for it. They can book up really quickly!

The real question is more of are you sure you will still like the place in 2021. Thats some years away and thing change, especially finances. I personally wouldn't lock anything in until 2019.

We are getting married March 21, 2020 and just booked our venues. We were able to lock in 2017/2018 pricing (the pricing we got was for end of 2017 - early 2018) and when i went to look at their prices before we booked them, I saw their rental fee went up $100! So by booking this weekend we have already saved ourselves $100.

If it's the perfect venue for you and you know it's THE one, then I say go ahead and do it! You could also wait for a couple months, look around, see if there is anything else in your area and if you just can't find anything that compares, I say book it! You have a little time to wait since I don't think many people are booking their 2021 weddings quite yet!

I would suggest waiting. In three years time a Lot could happen you theme could change or you don't like it any more, the place could go out of buesniss, or you find something better * That what happened to my FH and I * I would say wait to put a deposit a little closer to you date maybe a year out or 18 months. If you have really done the research and don't believe that anything that could happen in the next 3 years that would make you change you mind the go ahead.
