Booking mua

Brittany, on November 11, 2019 at 10:57 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Hi!
My bridal party has been selected and I’m wanting to get my MUA on the books. My girls know I’m going to hire a MUA but before I book i need to know a rough idea of how many bridesmaids are going to want to book a service.
When is the appropriate time to ask? (They are expecting to pay for their own service as it’s not mandatory)
my wedding is June 2020. I think it’s too early to ask, but I’m afraid I wont be able to hire the gal I’m wanting if I wait too much longer.
Thoughts?

I think you are fine to ask now. Normally once you get closer then you give a absolute final number. They just want a rough idea so they know what to expect.

I don't think it's too early to ask. It's not like they need to select their specific look. They likely know now if they're comfortable doing their own makeup for big events or if they can afford to pay for professional services.

I would ask the stylist what she charges and then let the girls know and ask if they want to participate.

I would ask now, but check with the MUA if you can adjust the number of services as the date gets closer. I gave my HMUA a ballpark number but won't have to lock in the final number of services until next year after my trial. That way your bridal party can just let you know generally if they think they'll want to have their makeup professionally done without 100% committing to it.

Can you hire them & let them know how many people need HAMU at a later date? That's what I did.

I told mine we could have up to 11 people getting hair and makeup done. But I also said I didn't think all of them would do it. I planned on asking my girls closer to the wedding so they know what their budget is and if its feasible for them.

I am getting married in June 2020 and asked mine last week. I left it open, just asked if they thought they would want their makeup (and hair) done. Although I kind of already had a rough idea since some have been in weddings in the past and I know their preferences (i.e. if they feel comfortable doing it on their own, if that is something they would want to pay for, etc.).

I already asked my girls, and I’m getting married in October. I just asked if anyone would be interested since I will be getting mine done, and let them know the estimated price. They all jumped on board. My mua said I can give more detailed information as I get closer, and they will bill us on the day for actual services. Make sure you can change later on if needed.

I’m getting married next October and recently booked my makeup artist and hair stylist.

Both had minimums and needed to lock in the number of people (in both cases, I can add, but not remove). I just texted people to let them know the price and asked if they wanted in!
