Just a little message for all your brides out there that don’t have your photographer booked. BOOK ONE. We waited until now to book our photographer and my wedding is in October, we are still 9 months out and out of our top five, all of them are already booked for our day, and it’s a Sunday afternoon wedding too on a non holiday weekend. So back to the drawing board for us. Don’t wait, once you have a date and a venue, book your photographer!

Thanks for the advice! How far out would you say is too far out to book the photographer? I have a long engagement so how soon is too soon?

This is great advice Megan! Photographers book up SO fast and definitely belong at the very top of the wedding planning schedule. I'm sorry you weren't able to book any of your top five picks I'm sure you'll find another great photographer for your date!

I’d say that this is true for most vendors. If a couple thinks a vendor is great, then 9 times out of 10, lots of other couples think they’re a great vendor too.

Yes!!! We let our photographer choose our date. She's the first vendor we booked... then we started looking for venues.

Great advice! A lot of the photographers in our area are already booked for 2020 and halfway through 2021. Don't wait!

Once you have a date! Some won’t let you book more than 18 months or so in advance I found but a year out is best.

We booked ours the week after we got engaged (14 months out from the date we picked). We chose our photographer before even securing a venue!

Yea, photographer was tough for us too. We were 7 months out, barely set a date, and I realized a lot of our choices were taken. Super tough for us. We found someone amazing though when we kept looking.

I booked our photographer a little over two years in advanced! Photography was my highest priority, so we did this as soon as we had a venue.

Just gotta get paid so I can pay her deposit 😉 Since my payday is Monday and his is tomorrow, Im gonna show him this thread so I can stop stressing it/ book it asap

Great Advice! We booked the second we had a venue secured (a little under a year out) and we asked our photographer if we were crazy early and he said he would start booking quickly for the following summer so we were good to get the head start.

So true! We booked our photographer 13 months out and 8 months out from our wedding she is already all booked up for the year for her destination weddings. Good photographers get booked up so fast!
