Book separately or together?

Gina, on January 2, 2024 at 9:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I’m wondering if people would suggest to book both the videographer and photographer within the same company? Or is it sometimes best to do it separate? I would like both video and photography. But the friends I know who are photographers don’t do videos. I want good quality for both but also don’t want it to be so costly. Wondering a price range as well.

I got photo and video from the same company, they had a package that included both, so it was a good deal!

Congrats to you Layla!! Saw it said that you just said yes. Are you recently married?

Thanks for your input. What state are you in and does the company you booked travel? I have been still on the hunt. I have found that a lot of the companies that do both, I don’t like their work for both. Or they are more than what I want. I think I may have to book separately for each to save money and yet still like the quality and all the detail packaging that comes with it in my situation. My fiancé will only do videos if it’s affordable. He hates the idea of spending so much on pics , let alone videos lol

Thanks Gina, congrats for you too Smiley smile

Not yet, my wedding is in June 2024 in New Jersey, I am not sure if the company travels, but I know they have offices in other states around here.

I know what you mean about liking both, to be honest I looked for a lot of videographers and didn't fall in love with any. What I liked about the company I booked is that they will provide me with the "raw video", and some shorter edits that they will create, but if I ended up not liking those, I can edit myself, or maybe even hire someone else to edit (in the future after the whole wedding budget will be gone lol)

Aww thanks! Mine is in November!

That’s a good idea of how you can edit later lol! Do you mind sharing the name of the company? It’s good to know that they are in other states!

Of course, it is called Enchanted Celebrations.

They have a lot of photographers and videographers, and they let you choose the exact person you want to do your wedding, which is also good, because I was worried I would get a professional that I didn't like the style Smiley smile

I think it depends. Booking together would likely be cheaper than booking two separate vendors. However, consider their work before deciding. Don't sacrifice quality just to get both in one package. For example, if there's a photographer whose work you love, but they don't do videography, definitely look into separate vendors (and the photographer might even have recommendations for you for a videographer). My husband and I booked photo and video separately, and we absolutely love how both turned out. If you find a company whose work you love and they offer both, that's a bonus!

Thank you! And I agree! Sometimes it’s best to do both but it REALLY depends on if you like that business for both. I’m finding that I’m liking separate companies even if they do both and yet somehow it may be cheaper or the same price even if together but affordable. I also don’t want us to lack quality just because we want quality and it not be worth the money. I feel like we may be in the same position as you and your husband did where we book an affordable photographer and separate videographer. Yet still like their quality.
