Boob support for low cut dress

Kari, on October 23, 2019 at 4:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 8

My wedding dress is low cut (deep V), backless/low back, and has thinner straps (not spaghetti straps, but straps that taper in an inverted v-shape as they move towards my shoulders; they are less than an inch thick at the narrowest part). It has cups built in but I feel I could use (but don't need) a little extra support/lift. I'm a 32D/34C and my breasts are lower set and have more volume at the bottom than the top.

I definitely want at least nipple covers (chances of a nip-slip are slim, but it is possible with some wacky dance moves), but was considering the Boob Tape "Shorty Cut" adhesive covers, however I don't know if they will actually provide any lift. I definitely don't want whatever I wear to be visible or give me an awkward shape. Regular Boob Tape or a Rabbit Bra will be too wide at the top and visible.

Any suggestions for a backless, deep-v, medium-narrow strap boob support system?

Can you have cups sewn into your dress? Else I’d suggest reusable petals like these for coverage and a slight lift.

My dress has cups sewn in already, but because of the open back they don't really do much other than provide coverage and some shaping (not lift or "holding in" much). Thanks for the petal suggestion - I had seen those but never tried them.

Have you considered having your straps shortened/adjusted? I don't know if this will help with lift, but i'm small chested for my size. When I was trying on dresses they'd fit everywhere but the chest region but when they clipped the straps to shorten the length it gave my chest lift and looked better. just a though Smiley smile

Hey Kari! Your dress sounds really beautiful!

I would definitely recommend you trying the adhesive petals that Megan suggested. They hand an additional sticky tab that allows you to add as much lift as you want. Since you need them for wearing your wedding dress specifically, you may be able to cut this tab so that fits the shape of your dress (if you think it would be visible).

Thanks for the suggestion, Nicole! I have a longer torso and am quite athletic with broad square shoulders, which I think is part of why breasts seem lower set, because my whole torso is long, not just my stomach area. The straps actually came shortened (got my dress off StillWhite) and I ripped out the alteration seams and it fits better and is much more comfortable with the straps as they are now. When they were shorter they pinched my armpit and underarm area and brought the waist up too high. It's a good idea, just doesn't work for my body type most of the time.

Thanks Sinead. I had thought of that, but was worried if I trimmed the top that they would fall down because I wouldn't have enough adhesive holding them in the "lifted" position. I would love to hear if anyone has tried it and it works though. I just don't want them to peel off halfway through the night or worse, have one fall down and the other stay lifted (that would be too funny, but I'd be so upset if it happened in the middle of my ceremony, our first dance, or some other important moment during our wedding).

I'm also fortunate that I don't think I "need" my boobs lifted - I could probably wear regular petals just for coverage and be totally safe during our wedding - but think a little extra support might look nice and be a little more comfortable for more active dancing.

This is what I was thinking: https://buyboobtape.com/collections/frontpage/products/boob-tape-shorty-cut

Since they aren't majorly expensive, would you consider buying some and doing a trial run for a day? That way you will be able to test out how adhesive they are and whether they come unstuck with wear or even with sweat.

So, stick with us to study the best hacks and suggestions for boob taping. This is exactly why probably the most fashion-ahead stars like Kim Kardashian and Jessie J are taping their breasts. This technique lets you use a tape of your choice to utterly replace your bra. Did we point out making use of it takes practically no time? Taping your boobs doesn’t even need to interfere together with your usual glam-up routine.
