Boob help!

Jessica, on October 5, 2019 at 1:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
😂😂 Sorry, not a very classy title, but it describes everything well!

I have a strapless corset style dress (Maggie Sottero "Emma"). It is currently being altered (went with the size my consultant told me to "be safe" but knew I should have went with my gut which was a size down) to fit me. So it's now having to be taken in a full size. It has built in cups, so a bra isn't needed. I'm naturally well endowed, however I've lost a ton of weight from my heaviest point (lost over 100 lbs), so my breast volume is certainly lacking. I am currently a 32 DDD or 34 DD and always use a bra with lift.

When trying my dress on, the cups fit my boobs, but my lack of volume made it appear to me not to fill out the top of the cup. I would like that volume!

I have been looking at Bustiers, but I don't think that is the route to go, considering my dress is a corset style. What about gel push up pads? Might that work? Has anyone used them? What were your results?

Thank you!

I’m using fabric push up cups that were sewn into my dress and they really helped push everything up lol

Daughter's dress was a Maggie Sottero and the very structured bodice had more room in it than she needed for her 36DD chest. It took a couple of alterations appointments to get it exactly right, but they sewed fairly substantial push-up pads into her dress below her breasts and then also sewed much smaller pads into the top edge of the dress's structured top (it was gapping a little because she didn't completely fill the space). The result was that she seemed to "fill" the dress perfectly, with her chest lifted up, but NOT creating a ton of cleavage above the bodice. Some of the options they tried pushed her "up and in" so much that she claimed she looked like the St. Pauli's Girl logo, and that was NOT what she wanted at all. Going in to alterations, daughter NEVER would have thought she'd need "padding," as her more usual issue with clothes is getting them to fit her chest and not be too big elsewhere. But, it really worked out and she looked amazing! Good luck!

Isn’t it just bonkers that however they make all of these wedding gowns, none of them actually fit any women in the chest? From the smallest to the largest chest, we are all putting in padded cups.

LOL! So true! Like I said, the LAST thing daughter expected was that she'd need "padding"! The good news re: Maggie Sottero dresses is I think they generally have a ton of "structure" in the bodice (e.g., stays, a very structured bust, etc.), but they do tend to be designed for someone with a pretty large/full bustline. With daughter's dress, one of the alterations options they considered was taking it completely apart and making the bustline of the dress smaller to fit daughter, but that was going to be hundreds of dollars and once they did it, it couldn't be undone.... If she didn't like it when they finished, she'd be up a creek. Daughter decided it wasn't worth going that route (her dress was about $1200, and with what we were already doing we were at about $400 in alterations), so they just starting "stuffing" and it looked great! LOL.... Enjoy your dress! Smiley heart

Hi Jessica, I am also a 34DD and wanted that top volume in my strapless dress as well. I found that the sticky strappless backless bra that has a pull string in front off Amazon works wonders!

They are sewing in push up cups into my dress and it helps a lot. However, I think they ordered my dress a little big on the bodice so taking it in. However, the top still wasnt laying right so she doubled up the push up cups and it filled up the bodice nicely and stopped the gapping. I even have a tiny bit of cleavage showing because it's a deep cut in the dress. It's a little false advertising about my breast size but I dont care as long as it makes the dress fits right.

Have you tried bending over at the waist in your dress adjusting the girls to were you want them. Hold them there stand up and have them cinch your corset tight. This should fill out the cup and keep you lifted and snug. Good luck!

Pay $3 for a pair of half Moon shape sew in shoulder pads from a sewing g store or Walmart. Put them in the lower half of your bra cup to see what they do for you. Try one, try 2 in one cup. If you like the push up effect t, then spend money for the seamstress to cut and cober pads and stitch them in your gown. But don't waste time on that solution if you find the trial with a cheaper shoulder pads shows that to be the wrong solution. I do alterations for friends and family now but used to make gowns for pay. And paying a seamstress for a shop hour of labor when there was a cheaper way for her to decide if something was worth trying, used to bug me. A lot of people do not think of half moon shoulder pads as a cheap trial item, and go right to buying much more expensive breath cutlets or push pads. Only to find a different solution is needed.
Sometimes padding to push up is not what you need. The top of your dress is leaning to far forward, giving you half empty cups because there are no straps to hold it up and back toward your shoulders.
Someone's, whether you use push-ups or not, adding one or two strands of tiny colored pearls( match dress color) on nylon, or crystals or tiny rhinestones , like spaghetti straps, can provide amazing support, and pull in the top edge of your gown toward the shoulder. So you fill cups, your full bust gets less droopy and you have less need to pull up your dress, or have it super tight , to stay up. If you like the no strap look, choose 1 or 2 strands of 1/8 inch beads. Still the look of a strapless in pictures and in life, from several feet away. And like sparkling accents in fine lines close up, does not look like straps. Just make sure that straps in back are fastened to the dress inches closer to the center back than the straps in front, which should be almost to your arms. The angle is what creates the uplift. With or without pads. Like convertible halter bras, these straps can be made to attach and detach hook and eye out of sight. With a full bust, just make sure the seamstress uses the kind of nylon monofiliment line sold for fishing, 35 or 50 pound stress without breaking. Not beads or faceted crystals on thread, or on wire or plastic, that can either break or cut your skin.

I have the gel ones because I am not well endowed and I appear flat chested in my dress even after alterations haha. They seem to work but I'm still a few days out from the big day so Idk how welll they will hold all day but at the fitting they worked.

My dress has a corset with built in cups, but my seamstress is adding in different cups to help the lift. For reference, I'm a 32 DD, and she's adding in C cups. It really helps the look of my dress!!

I have a strapless sweetheart with a fitted bodice and my seamstress is sewing pads into the cups of the dress. I think it’s worth it.
