Bolero or shawl

Kelly, on September 6, 2022 at 7:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Do I really need a wrap for the evening as the bride?
I can’t find any that I think will look good with my dress.
It’s Oct 10 in southern CA. I can’t imagine I’ll be cold between the heat and my nerves. Is it more for photo ops or should I forget about it?

It normally should be an okay temperature in early October. That's when we have our wedding ... but a year later.

Is this a strapless gown? Did someone tell you need one? It may be nice if you are away from the wedding site or reception venue but otherwise just as a backup if it does get cool.

It is a strapless dress. If it were cold I would love the look of a warm wrap but most of what I like doesn’t suit for warm weather. I see some chiffon bolero jackets kind of sheer. I guess I could get one but seems silly to waste the money. I doubt I will wear it. Our reception is at the same place the ceremony is although inside in the AC but with dancing and mingling I bet I’ll be hot!

Someone was looking into a tulle wrap on Etsy. But it may not have a price advantage either. It looked pretty basic-- just wrapping the material around your shoulders.

What about something you'd wear again like a unique jean jacket or splurge on something great like a leather jacket? Obviously it's way warmer that just a wrap but if you never wore it that day, you could always wear it in the future. Plus, a cool jacket might lend to a funky photo opportunity!

I could look into that. For sure it would be nice to use again! Thank you.

I don't know that it's necessary. It's whatever you imagine for your attire. I'm wearing one but simply because I'm self conscious about my weight in my arms and my dress is strapless

Certainly not standard or necessary unless you think you’ll be cold. I’ve only ever seen cover ups on brides if they’re doing pics outside in cold weather!

Totally not necessary if you don't want one! I've seen brides wear wraps or jackets if they got married up North in the middle of winter, or brides who get married in a religious setting where they couldn't have their shoulders showing, but I'd imagine October in Southern CA wouldn't be too cold. I'm getting married in GA in October and I'm not planning to wear anything over my dress.
