Body Glide Recommendations

Jess, on February 1, 2018 at 2:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I said yes to the dress the other day!! I am so excited! But now I am starting to think about accessories and whatnot. The dress has an all lace illusion neckline. I noticed that because of the lace, it irritated and caused red marks from rubbing. I have heard people recommend body glide before but was wondering if there is a certain brand or kind that everyone prefer?

TIA!

There is a kind that's literally called Body Glide that they sell at running stores or would also sell online. It would probably work well- less messy than a Vaseline or something. I use it for marathons and have minimal irritation after, so I'm sure it would work for you. You might just want to ask someone where you bought your wedding dress or are getting it tailored though, to make sure it's not going to damage the fabric.

Body glide will leave your skin a bit sticky and the lace may cling to it. I think it would ruin the lace and wouldn’t come out at dry cleaning time. Buy some at a sports store and feel the consistency. It’s not great for what you are looking for. I recommend asking your alterations person to sew a lining in or possible taking an allergy pill the day of to reduce the irritation.

Body glide (brand name) changed my life! I can comfortably wear dresses and shorts and not have to worry about chaffing.

I'll have to disagree with Lina - I've never experienced BodyGlide be sticky - its the consistency and feel of stick deodorant - after a while its not there.

I believe GoldBond and Mederma also make anti-chafe balms, but body glide is my go to

Body Glide for Run Guard, they're a little tacky (sticky feeling) if you put too much on, and they work best with a little bit of sweat to really get a good "glide".

What part is causing the rubbing? maybe there's an errant thread or sharp piece? Most times you won't notice a bit of redness under the lace, but near your neckline might be a different story. You can also ask your seamstress to steam it really well to soften it a little bit.

Monistat also makes an antichafing gel (it’s not medicated). It feels like a face primer—in fact, I’ve heard people use it for that! Or—there is also a bandaid anti blister stick. I have used body glide too. I think a solution to the dress itself would be better, but it doesn’t hurt to try those solutions too. In a pinch, solid deodorant also creates an anti abrasive surface. I get chub rub so I’ve tried a lot!
