I don't think it would look tacky. I do know I had liked sequin dresses for my bridesmaids, but all of them were against it so you might want to make sure the maid of honor would be comfortable in sequin dress. You'd also want to make sure the sequin dress isn't itchy because you wouldn't want her miserable wearing it all evening. I know one of my friend's got married and the bridesmaid wore blush dresses and the maid of honor wore a sequin rose gold dress and it looked very pretty. I found a couple of photos similar to what you are talking about doing and I don't think it looks tacky at all. I have also seen dresses where just the top is sequins and the bottom would be the bottom is cabernet which would look really pretty with cabernet bridesmaids dresses as well. One last thing, the gold and cabernet kind of gives me a Christmasy vibe rather than Old Hollywood Glam.

I chose a champagne gold sequin dress for my bridesmaids and they all love it. I've never personally seen the theme at a wedding but I haven't gone to that many either lol. I love the color palette - I'm sure that's going to look so amazing!

I think those would be absolutely gorgeous together. Stop second guessing yourself. We're doing somewhat of an old Hollywood theme too. Just not the glam so it won't be the same scheme.
