Blushing veils

Christine, on September 2, 2016 at 8:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Does anyone wear blushing veils anymore ? I ordered one, but after thinking about it, and watching a ton for Four Weddings, I'm not sure if brides still use them. What do you think!?

Hi! I am wearing a blusher built in to a cathedral veil I love the old school thought of it. No one does it anymore.. Even more reason to do something different and bring back an old tradition.. It's beautiful

No body really wears them anymore. The original symbolism is when the groom was meeting the bride for the first time at the wedding. (Hints where the "not seeing the bride before the wedding" comes from) but now it is looked more as the groom unveiling the bride the way christ unveils the church. 2 cor. 3 16-18

I wore one. I had always loved the look. It made me feel bridal more than a single layer veil did.

I had one added to mine because I'm a traditional kinda girl and to me that is kind of an iconic moment when the groom lifts the veil. I didn't want to miss it. However the blusher is velcroed in place and detachable for dinner and first dance. After that I'll take the veil off totally. I wish I had pics but the bridal shop ordered the completely wrong veil (absolutely no lace vs. mine which has a beautiful lace trim) so I haven't gotten to see it yet! Its made in England so it takes forever to come in. Hopefully they have it by the 10th which is my next fitting.

I'm wearing one. To be honest, I really didn't want to, but we are Jewish and the groom putting the blusher down before the ceremony is actually of HUGE significance and an important step in the wedding process. I wasn't even sure I wanted a veil, but once they put the veil on and flipped the blusher down, I really had my "moment"... Try it on, if you like it, then use it. I have seen more brides starting to use them again. The advice from my bridal consultant for the day of is to spray some hairspray on it from the inside so it stays out from your face a bit.

@Amanda- what's the significance? FH is Jewish, we're having an interfaith wedding, and no one has said anything to me about a blusher being of any significance!

I'm wearing a blusher veil because We are both Jewish and it's a huge symbolic part of a Jewish wedding. Especially for a conservative Jewish wedding. It ties back to a biblical story from the Torah (Old Testament) FH has to check under the blusher veil to make sure it's me and then puts it back down. It's super meaningful and special.

@jen here's an article explaining why. Although it said what I said is a misconception it is what I was taught and believe

I'd also like to point out 4 weddings stopped airing a while ago so it's not really in trend anymore

@Jen: Kayla pretty much got it. I'm Reform, but FH is Conservative and we are getting married at his synagogue. It's a very touching moment.

Anita Diamant's book "The New Jewish Wedding" is also another great resource. She takes special care to explain everything and it's good for interfaith couples.
