Bloating in dress help!!

Ashley, on May 29, 2023 at 11:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi everyone!!! My wedding is in October of 2024 and I bought my dress last month. I know it was a little early but my sister flew in so my mom and I decided it would be a good time to look and see what I like, but then I fell in love! The dress I tried on was a size 14 but I ordered a size 4 based on measurements. I love love love my dress but after looking through pictures from the day I bought it I’m very worried about being bloated. I bloat all the time and it never normally bothers me because I just suck in for pictures :/ but I don’t want to have to worry about sucking in my entire wedding day and I’m sure I’ll be too in the moment to think about it anyway! I’ve thought about spanx or shapewear but the top of my dress is sheer and I don’t want it to be visible. Any recommendations for what to do including supplements are welcome! I don’t want to change my diet too much because I have a sensitive stomach but should I try greens? Or something, anything? Thank you!!! Also I know my posture probably makes it worse too so if there’s any recommendations on posture training I’ll take that too I’ve slouched my whole life

TLDR; love my dress but hate the bloating looking for recommendations

    Your dress is gorgeous!

Do you know what triggers your bloating? If not, you might want to start keeping track to see if you can avoid triggers in the week leading up to your wedding. It also might be worth talking to your doctor about it. Good luck!

Thank you! We are definitely still far enough out that I think I will try keeping a journal!

For posture my best recommendation has been my chiropractor honestly! Ever since loosening tension in my lower back I find it easier to straighten my shoulders out for longer periods of time!
Also it will take time and you will be sore Smiley smile take it slow.
I’m sorry I don’t know much about shape wear or diet journaling to help. We took a test for my sister to find out why she kept feeling congested all the time. It was YorkTest. (I have heard some rumors about them not being great, but it’s a start!)

Try fixing your posture and see if that helps the way your stomach looks. From the side angle you appear slouched with your pelvis tilted up.

As far as bloating you have enough time to figure outbwhat foods won't cause bloating and just eat those the day before.
Stay away from any cruciferous veggies to start. Lol

You can try something like Whole 30, not for the diet aspect but to figure out your reaction to different types of foods. Basically for 30 days you stick to mostly unprocessed foods (there’s a strict list) to cleanse everything else out, and at the end of the 30 days you slowly reintroduce food groups one at a time to gauge your body’s reaction. I did it once, and it wasn’t fun, but I’m a huge sugar addict so anything banning sugar is torture for me lol. If you don’t want to commit to something that limited, I think there are other shorter methods to play around with your diet and test how you react to different foods. And, of course, talk to your doctor.

You can consult with your doctor about your sensitive stomach issues. The only thing I knew that would work for me to prevent bloating was a diet change. I cut way down on carbs the month of the wedding and then completely cut them out for two weeks leading up to the wedding (including cruciferous vegetables). I was extreme and also cut out alcohol, dairy and sugar (I drank during the reception after photos), but my face was crystal clear on the day of and I did not have to worry about “sucking it in” on the big day. It was a hard diet, but I would do it all over again. Bloating in dress help!! 3

You can try taking a probiotic supplement. Also I don’t think your stomach is noticeably big in that photo. Normal human beings don’t have flat lower abdomens. Maybe only Instagram influencers who pose perfectly. Your photographer should be able to capture you in angles that flatter your beautiful body shape. I think you’re beautiful and hope maybe you don’t worry so much Smiley smile

Definitely recommend keeping a food journal and seeing where your triggers are. It may be as simple as too much fiber, that happens to me a lot. Lower your salt and sugar intake, eat slower, don't use straws ( it brings in extra air to your stomach). You look beautiful but I understand it doesn't look the way you want it to. Good luck and just know, your fiance/partner will think you look beautiful no matter what!
