Blind and Afraid

Bailey, on September 28, 2019 at 5:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I have major astigmatism. Like, I can't go three hours without losing focus and getting a splitting migraine. I can't wear contacts because it is astigmatism and complications and such. In addition... FH digs tats and glasses on a girl so I might as well complete the fantasy by keeping my specs Smiley winking

I'm so nervous though that I'll look like a fool. I've always dreamt of wearing a proper ball gown but do gowns and glasses really go together????? I have so many insecurities and I just need some confidence Smiley cry

I'm hoping that when I go to dress shopping I'll find one that makes me say "screw it! I look great!" and shirk all fears.

I'm legally blind, part of my disability is severe astigmatism, so I totally get what you're saying. You won't look like a fool, glasses now are cute and people look at them almost like a fashion accessory. Your fiancee loves you, astigmatism and all, that's the important thing. You be you and rock those sexy specs!!

Glasses are "in" now. People are wearing lenseless glasses now because they're "cool" get yourself a pair of glasses that make you feel sexy and beautiful (if part of the problem is that your glasses don't make you feel good, or insecure for whatever reason). I totally get the insecurities. I got my glasses in 8th grade and I refused to wear them, preferring to squint from the front row and get splitting headaches instead. I finally came to terms with my glasses and I wear them every day now. Your fiancee, family, and friends love you no matter what. I'm wearing a ball gown, and unless I can scrounge up some extra money for contacts before the wedding, I will likely be wearing them on my wedding day. You're going to look great Smiley smile

Keep them on and get yourself either a fancy frame for the day or get the frameless lenses!

Keep them on! It’s awful and just plain weird that to certain people, glasses have been deemed informal. I agree with a PP that if you think a fancier frame would look better you can always do that, but you don’t need to! You’ll want to see your wedding and enjoy it without the migraine.

This is a late response, but I wore glasses on my wedding day! I didn't have a ball gown, but here are some pictures for reference:
