Blending Family Dance?

Maddie, on June 9, 2020 at 11:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Has anyone done a special song (probably something more upbeat) at the reception to include kids? My fiancé and I will have our first dance together, but I’m kind of playing with the idea of having something also to include our two kids (ages 8 and 10, mine biologically).

    That sounds beautiful.

Is there a song you all love to sing together? Maybe from a favorite movie?

That’s such a cute idea - is there a song that’s significant to your family or just something fun you guys all know and sing along together ?

It does not have to be a spotlight or separate dance. You can call a special dance or two for dancing with someone in your family. We have a cultural thing at weddings, a sweet treat, which has the same meaning as the original cutting and feeding each other cake ( no smashing.) The feeding each other cake symbolizes nurturence, that each if you will take care of the other thru the years, feed or take care of them. Why most cut cakes and feed each other a bite, except we say it. Like many vows say to love, cherish, take care of in sickness or health stuff. At weddings where either has children, or at adoptions, first bride and groom feed each other, and each feeds a bite to each child. Then the kids each take a turn feeding a piece to each parent, and any sibs or new step sibs. It is now a family of people who will take care of each other from this day forth. We use little dough balls or sweets. But I have seen a variety of people do this not as a culturally expected thing, but because it was a great, fast but clear way for little ones or older children to participate. Young or old, most cultures, sharing food is love.

We're doing the same thing! We love the Beetlejuice movie and are probably doing "Jump in the Line" by Harry Belafonte. It's hard to NOT wanna dance when that song is playingSmiley smile
