Blended families

My FH bought my daughter a band and he's going say vows to her. What are you guys doing to blend your family?

I got a plush, photo blanket made for my future stepson...it has pics of things we did as a family for each year I've known him.

I've seen others do a sand ceremony with all the kids....I think that's a great idea!

Awe that's sweet. I thought about doing the sand but we have a 3 year old together and I'm trying to limit the tantrums during the ceremony lol we got her a ring also so she doesn't feel left out.

We're doing a Unity Cross. FH is also planning something special for my son. He has asked if he could adopt my son, my son screamed yes! He wanted to make that promise during the ceremony. Smiley smile

We are doing vows as a family. FH is adopting my son and we will announce the adoption as part of the ceremony.

This is great! I was in a friend's wedding last year and the groom gave the daughter a necklace. Wasn't a dry eye in the place!

We are using Unity in Glass for a ceremony with FH's 11 year old daughter. We will combine 6 colors of glass beads and then ship them back to the company who will use them to make a unity glass sculpture and a few ornaments for the holidays.

I'm tearing up reading your comments! My daughters fathered married a woman and they didn't include our daughter in the ceremony. I was like how do you not include include the child? They rarely see her or call her ever and they live like 10 min away. This vow to my daughter from my FH means the world to me, since he's stepped up and became a father to her whe she was 7. No questions asked he's always been by her side.

My sd3 (she will be 4 almost 5 by the wedding date) is our flower girl and then will be included in the sand ceremony with us. I am also getting her a super cute necklace and the card with it says "today I tell your dad 'i do' and promise you forever too"

I don't know but after reading a few different posts about this topic it really makes me want to do something. All of the kids are mine, but only one of them is FH's and mine. He is becoming a stepdad to my 4 daughters. I wonder what we could do

@Cynthia C, I've asked FHs 15 yr old son to be part of the ceremony a # of times/giving different options. We have a great relationship n he wants to attend but hasn't ever been to a wedding n does not want to be 'in' it. We are doing a sand ceremony with FH n I but I do like PPs idea of a family pic framed. I worry about what others think regarding FHs son but it is what it is...

Ahh all these sweet things(particularly the ring and necklace) are making me tear up...i wish my FH would do that, but he says it should be about us and my daughter is 11 and is super pre-teen angsty and when I asked her she was all "that's lame..." but she did want to be a Jr bridesmaid, so I guess that's all we are doing.

I was thinking of doing a unity puzzle. FH , girls and I would each have a piece. They are going to be Jr bridesmaids. During the ceremony they would come up and place their pieces into the puzzle along with us
