Blankets for Reception

Jessica, on October 6, 2018 at 9:35 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
We are getting down to the wire! We have two weeks to go! We are getting married at an all outdoors venue. The weather is currently predicted to be a high 77/ with a low of 57. Ceremony starts at 4. We were thinking of getting heaters in case it gets cold but blankets are a cheaper option (we are already over budget but found some for $100) Has anyone had blankets available at their wedding and did people actually use them?? Thank you!

I am getting married in May and will have both the ceremony and reception outdoors and while the weather may be perfect I think I will also pick up some blankets just in case (hoping to score some deals on Black Friday). I went to a wedding in December and they had blankets available and I was very happy. The ceremony was in a big barn type structure and it was cold so I was very thankful to be able to sit on the blanket so my bare legs weren’t touching the chilly chair. I still use the blanket all the time at home too!

We had blankets set out for our elopement and they were used! It was in the high 60’s.

I would invest in the heaters. At 57 degrees I'm not curling up with a blanket, I'm eating and going home.

If it's cold enough for blankets, it's time to go to your indoor plan B.

I should have explained. The "low" of 57 will be at like 3 in the morning most likely. The wedding will be in San Diego, where its never really that cold. Everyone will be dancing and having fun except for some of the older crowd. Theres no indoor option B..its going to be outdoors for sure. Thanks for the opinions!

If you have an Ikea nearby you can probably find some cheap ones there. Keep in mind that those who tend to get cold easily (like me!) almost always come prepared. Just make sure guests KNOW it will be entirely outdoors and have a few get the word out to folks to be mindful of the forecast.

Between providing some blankets and folks being adults knowing how to dress appropriately for the weather, you should be fine.

P.S. For this FL girl, CA definitely tends to get cold at night 😩😂

I’m doing blankets! It’s on October 20th I’m not sure if it will be chilly or not but either way I’m sure people will take them. I plan on doing the sign that says “to have and to hold Incase you get cold” I got about 100 blankets from Walmart for 2.50 a piece.

I wouldn't worry about your guests in that temperature range. The people who would be cold would be going out the door with a coat on if they know the wedding is outdoors. The people I would be concerned about would be your bridesmaids, as they are usually the people with the lightest clothing on.

I'd get heaters if you can, or at least rent them. Walmart has some cheap fleece blankets too.
