Go for it girl! I wore 3 black dresses and have zero regrets! When I first started looking for a dress, it had crossed my mind that I may get pushed back for my decision, but I was pleasantly surprised when I didn’t. I think if you are the type of bride to want to wear a black dress, your friends and family already know this and expect it from you. 🖤

    (sorry, accidentally posted too soon)
I was also going to add that you are going to want to feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident on your wedding day. And you are going to want to wear something that reflects you and your style. Don’t get a dress to please someone else or to fit into some normative stereotype.

There's a big difference between what people think of you and their own tastes and preferences. You can love a dress and not the person in it, or vice versa. Similarly, some brides care about tradition or what others think. Others don't. You have to do what's right for you. There is no etiquette rule that says you must wear white.

The only thing you can't do is tell your guests not to wear black because you are choosing to go non-traditional.

It’s not your guests’ place to judge what you wear because it has nothing to do with hospitality. As long as you are not wearing something indecent such as stripper clothes, then it doesn’t make a difference. You only get one wedding so make sure that you don’t regret any choices and other people can do what they want when it is their turn. Black dresses are actually pretty common. David’s is out of business but they did have some dresses that had black in them but not necessarily solid black. Azazie and Cocomelody let you try on before you purchase.

I'm actually considering a black wedding gown as well. There are really nice maggie sottero gowns in black. Honestly its what you want and feel comfortable in for your big special day. Lots of luck to you with your dress hunting. XOXO

Go for the black gown, @Ashley! It is your wedding day and the one day you get to feel like the most beautiful bride. If a black dress is what's going to make you feel that way, then you absolutely need to wear it! 👰‍♀️
