Black tie optional...menswear?

FutureMrsKC, on September 10, 2018 at 10:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

We got an invited to a "black tie optional" wedding. FH doesn't own a suit. He has dress clothes like pants, shirts, etc. but no jacket.

We really don't have the extra $200 for a suit rental on top of the hotel we have to pay for and a gift for them.

Where is the most affordable place to find a jacket for this kind of event?

I'd check out Kohls & Macy's and even Amazon (you could try it on with Amazon wardrobe). They sometimes run great deals.

I use Amazon for everything and I didn't even think about them! FH is so tall and broad though, I'd be nervous to order online I think.

Hi FutureMrsKC! Since the wedding is going to be black-tie optional, there is a strong possibility that other men are going to be wearing tuxedos! Since this is the case, I highly recommend your future husband at least wears a suit and tie! Some great and affordable places to get a suit include Amazon, Men's Warehouse, Kohls, or even Burlington! I hope this helps!

If he owns a pair of dress pants I would try to run out and buy him at least a jacket if nothing else. A lot of times people put certain dress codes on wedding invites without really understanding what it means ( for example, Black tie for a dress code speaks to a lot more of the even then just indicating what people should wear, but a level of service that a lot of people don't realize). If he has a sport coat and tie on, with dress pants you should be okay!

Amazon Wardrobe is nice, you try stuff on and send it back if it doesn't fit (or keep it then pay for it). My fiance is 6'5" and 260 lbs, and he's ordered off Amazon and had luck for shirts & pants, he hasn't ordered a jacket yet though. I'd just measure your fiance and order from there!

I just ordered my big and tall fiancé a sport coat on clearance from jcpenny.com yesterday. He needed one for a wedding we’re going to next month.

When my husband was looking for a suit jacket recently we went to Macy's and they even had suit sets that were on sale for a little over $100
