Black Owned Online Shops (Etsy Preferred)

Anscia, on April 3, 2017 at 3:04 PM Posted in Community Conversations 2 62

Hi,

My fiancé and I have been searching for some black-owned bridal shops to purchase gifts for our parties. Any suggestions? We would prefer Etsy, but individual websites are fine as well.

    I have no idea how you would find that out unless somebody on here owns an Etsy shop. However, they aren't allowed to advertise.

    Try these IG pages for some assistance. They'll tag vendors (most of which are black-owned).

    @blackbride1998

    @blkbridalbliss

    @theblackbachelorette (will def find some stuff on this one)

    @munaluchibride

    Also, try Munaluchibride's website and use their vendor search.

    I'm confused why it would matter... I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to understand

    @Anscia- @Gymrat gave you other options. I used the Etsy search function for the second web address. Maybe try there if you are Etsy specific.

    @TreeShade Thank you sooo much!

    @Gymrat Thank you sooo much! I think I follow all of those accounts.

    BOTH - It's just hard trying to find things that reflect us.

    @goingbaldwin it's important to support the black owned shops since they are a minority.

    Also try the app Bobspotter...and it's not odd at all...it's about support and circulating money in your community as well...which a lot of other cultures and whatnot do as well :-)

    This is just a little confusing to me, even with blacks being a minority. I'm not sure it's appropriate to specifically say you'll only do business with a black-owned shop. But hey, not my business I guess.

    I don't think she said she'd only do business with black shops. However, black people tend to spend ridiculous amounts of money outside of the community while black" businesses struggle and are neglected. It's a way of keeping minority businesses up and running and helping our our communities.

    Kristen nailed the explanation.

    Check your local Facebook groups. There's a black owned business group in my area.

    Thanks for this post. We, too, sought out LGBTQ vendors to support our community.

    I do not get what people find odd with this post. Its about supporting your community as well as finding things that reflect your culture. It is easy to say this makes no sense when you are heavily represented. If you don't get ask an informative question instead of saying this shouldn't matter
