Black on black suit?

Ciara, on April 22, 2018 at 2:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28
I really think the look of an all black suit is so sexy. By all black, I mean black suit, black shirt, and black tie. My fiancé is worried that it doesn’t seem like wedding attire and thinks doing a traditional black suit with white shirt would be more fitting. Is all black too much? Our wedding colors are ivory and black.

It's up to him to select his attire. If he wants a white shirt then a white shirt it is.

I guess I should clarify.. he likes the look of black on black, but doesn’t know if it’s appropriate for a wedding since it’s not traditional

I think it’s too much black. Maybe have the tie a wedding color

Well then if he wants all black then he should roll with it. I personally don't like to wear that much black but I wouldn't think anything of it if someone else did

My one daughter's FH picked black on black tuxes for their wedding for him, the dads, and the ushers, while the GM's will wear black with white shirts.

Have FH go try both on and see how he feels. I don't think you can go wrong either way,

I'll admit I wasn't crazy about the idea when they told us, but the look has grown on me. I even exchanged the first MOB dress I got for her wedding to better match my DH in his black on black tux. The groom choose the tuxes and it definitely fits his style which is most important.

If both of you like black and black I would not worry about tradition. It isn’t like it’s something that will effect the guests experience 😊

Personally I think it's a good like but I feel like it might not show up great in pictures - that's why I don't like the white tie with white vest look, the tie disappears and it looks like you're not wearing one. But that's just my opinion, I feel like the most important opinion here is his!

Oh also do not go with an ivory shirt, even if you're wearing ivory, it ends up looking dirty!

I agree with you 100% that all black is sexy. I don't think it's too much. It's your wedding and that you should do whatever you want!

I will say I think this works better with a bow tie - definitely draws the eye more than a flat tie would!

The groomsmen will wear all black and my hubby-to-be will be in a matching black tux but his shirt will be ivory. My bridesmaids will also be wearing all black as our colors are black and gold

I love the black on black look too! Hubby to be thought it was too much, but then, I've really not shown him any photos to change his mind. He's going with the ivory shirt. Girls are in black too, and I'm trying to get gold on the boutonnieres.

I'd love to see some of your photos, but looks like your date is a week after mine!
