Black dress for rehearsal

Paige, on July 2, 2020 at 5:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
I have a long black dress that is flowy and very pretty. Has anyone worn a black dress to their rehearsal? I am sure white is traditional, but would you think it was strange if you went to a rehearsal and saw the bride in black?

I didn't wear white to my rehearsal, i think it's fine that you're in black.

No I don’t think it’s weird. Usually people prefer to wear white but its only a rehearsal. Go for it.

There are no traditions around what color to wear to a rehearsal, as far as I know. There is a fairly recent trend of brides-to-be wearing white to pre-wedding parties, but that is strictly about personal preference, likely stemming from pictures posted on social media, and not a rule or anything. Wear what you like, 100%!

I don't see an issue, I've also never been to a rehearsal where the bride wore white. I think that the "wear white to every single pre-wedding event" trend is fairly new and kind of takes away from seeing the bride in white on the actual wedding day.

Not at all! I think for the rehearsal you can ear whatever you want, as long as it’s appropriate for the event, I don’t think the color matters at all. I am wearing a purple and black dress to mine.

Alot of women wear whatever they love that's in their closet: floral, bright, dark, white, etc. There is no rule except be comfortable since the rehearsal is a very informal event. Most people wouldn't bat an eye at your choice so wear whatever you like.

Nope. Not strange. I’m wearing a dark purple.

No, I think it would be very refreshing! The whole "wear white to every event" is so tiresome. Wear whatever makes you feel fabulous and comfortable!

I'm wearing a white and black dress with skulls on it...I don't think a black dress is bad.

It's your rehearsal dinner and black dresses are stunning! I'm sure you will look amazing! I don't see anything wrong with the bride choosing her gowns and color preferences. It's your moment so be confident on your celebration days.Smiley flower Smiley shame

There is a recent tv and media/advertiser thing that Brides-to-be should buy white dresses for engagement parties, for showers, for bridal luncheons, and for rehearsal dinners. In fact, there is nothing traditional about it. The only time it is traditional for brides to wear white is at the wedding itself. Many more weddings happen in warm months, and white or light clothes are more common then. But other than that, pick any flattering outfit in any color you like. I have rarely seen brides wear white at pre-wedding events. I have seen, and expect anything , including chic LBD and evening black palazzo pants with silver metallic glitzy tops. If appropriate for the venue, why not?
